ok i personally would have dh work the extra shifts. my dh works overtime(mostly volunteer some is mandatory) every week of the year and if saturday is available he works that to he knows it will help us out and i don't work.(can't afford daycare 2 full time and 1 before and afterschool let alone during the summer) he gets time and a half for anything over 8 hours in a day. he works over 60 hours a week. so if your dh only had to do it a few times a month then i would have him do that it makes more economical sense to me.

I would definitely ask your husband to work a little extra. Not to mention, if you took the $400 you were going to spend on clothes and scoured a few garage sales for special things, you could probably make double that if you resold the items on ebay. Taking in another child is always an option, as daycare is very expensive. If it is only temp work, you might be able to get a seasonal job at a hospital or a place that has on the job child care. Good luck.

It sounds to me from your post that you really don't want to take a job. (not saying that to be mean, it just sounds that way to me) If that is the case, since you have time to prepare I would find ways to slash the budget. Get rid of cable TV (if you have it), cut out junk food and convenience items from the grocery bill, no eating out, etc. You might be able to squeeze out the extra money without your DH needing to work OT. I don't find it very fair to expect him to work OT if he hates it so much, men get tired too!
