I just found out about this service. You can purchase $60 worth of food for $25! This is a service for anyone, regardless of income and is provided at many churches across the country. To see if there is one near you go to Angel Food Ministries Click on Host Sites and then call to find out order times. You have to go to the church to order and pay with cash, MO, Cashiers check or food stamps.
The food is designed to feed a family of four for one week. Delivery is once a month. You can order any number of food units each month. They include things such as ground beef, pork chops, chicken tenders, meatballs, vegetables, desserts, etc. I haven't done it yet, but it's worth looking into.

Angel Ministries ?

Here is another 3 page thread about Angel Food Ministries.

Personally I've tried it and won't be back but that's because we just don't eat a lot of the food they give you. Nothing with pork, ground beef or any chicken that isn't a breast. All that just gets tossed so for us it was a huge waste, but if you don't have any self imposed dietary restrictions it can be a good deal.

Oh, thanks! I just got back from vacation, so I haven't been on for two weeks.

I've done it, and I've liked it. I always wondered what the "value" is, so the $60 was new info to me!

I have been using the Angel Food Ministires for about 6 months now. It is Great. We have been happy with everything that we have gotten... Take advantage of it if the program is in your area. It is worth it.

We have puchased it once and really like it. Just never remember to order again. The meat boxes are really nice since it comes vacume sealed so it stays fresh in the freezer longer than a grocery store.

We have been getting Angel food for the past year and we love it. Occasionally there are things we do not eat - I either give them away to family or friends or trade with someone at the pick up place. I keep track of our finances on Quicken so I am able to keep an eye on what we spend our money on. Our grocery bill for the year is over $200 less than it was before we started getting it... for us it is definitely worth it!
