that is not true, you don't know where she lives or the standard of living! 10% of our budget is more than $500 but I still don't have $500 to tithe every month! If I did it would go to my kids college funds not tithing! I do give alot to charity but I don't tithe a certain amount every paycheck.

I am double on housing and transportation, right on target for food/utitlites, and much lower on all the misc things like personal, cloths and recreation.

We are pretty spot on with every category; thank God.
We have no debt percentage. We're all paid off except the mortgage.
I don't tithe the full 10% to my church, though. We use another portion of money for charitable organizations, people in need in our community, etc. as well.

We are trying to get within these precentages however it has been a struggle. We do pay 25 % of our income on health insurance (and it's not even that good). We are currently working on the unsecured debt and hopefully in two years it will all be paid back!! I do believe that if you trust God for your needs he will make a way. He doesn't guarentee us an unbumpy ride but one that he will walk with us. We have been tithing for a little over a year now and I tell you we always have money to eat, and the car has broken down twice, our bills are paid on time, and our credit card debt is on the rapid payback schedule. We have been able to pay everything with out the use of CC's and all on one income without a raise. His employeer cut that out this year and told my husband he is maxed out.

For the most part we stay between the percentages. We save quite a bit more than that, and our car payments, insurance and gas are high (18%) but we have no other debts so it makes up for it there. Also our health insurance doesn't come out of the take home I was basing it on.

I'm staying pretty close to the percentages, but energy costs are the biggest problem. Something that we do that helps keep utility cost down is being on the "time of use" plan with electricity.

We're pretty much right where we should be, I guess. I/We could do more to save on electric, personal expenses, and groceries though.

I understand your dilemma! What we do is tithe first, before we pay anything else and God always supplies the rest. We put our faith in Him and he has never failed us. I can't say that sometimes I don't sit around and think of what I could do with that $300-$400 per month, so I understand! As for the other percentages, we are pretty right on except for housing because we are paying a mortgage and rent temporarily.

We're working towards a 10% tithe. Our transportation at 26% is high, but we outgrew our old vehicle and needed something with more seating. Plus the cost of gas keeps rising. Overall, we're not in bad shape, but I do see areas for improvement.
