I am in PA and have paid my sitter for my 5yo and 1yo dd's $50 for a day (9-5) and have paid her $10/hr at night (8-11pm). I know she loves the girls and can use any extra cash. I will be paying her $100/week this summer to watch the girls 2 days/week from
8-6. I know my best friend pays (in NJ) $10/hr for her 2 kids ages 5 and 3 also-day or night. Very expensive out here!!

I am in VA - I pay $85 every week for my 2 years old son at her house while I go to work from 7:30a to 4p/5 days a week and she offer to have pre-school program which I only pay $12 a month for 9 months so I pay $97 on first every month from Sept to May. She also plan to offer Summer pre-school program that will help my son to get some extra learning education.

I think babysitter rates are different than daycare rates...but I could be wrong. I have always paid our sitter $10 per hour. I have two kids.

Good luck!

Wow. I can't believe the differences! $3-$12 an hour! I think a huge part of it is location. I live in Omaha, Nebraska. It seems the main factor is age/experience of the sitter. I very rarely pay a sitter since I belong to a baby-sitting co-op. However, when I do pay for them, it is usually my younger cousins. They are in high school and usually charge about $5-$6/hour. I work in a small town called Plattsmouth. When I asked my middle school students what they charged per hour, it was usually $3-$4/hour! Of course, with age you usually get more responsibility and you can't put a price on that.

My ds is in a in home daycare, the lady is certified with the state and we pay her $75 dollars a week. Some people think that is a lot, but there are other places around here that charge more than that a week. When dh and I go out we usually have my parents watch the kids. I don't know how much to pay for a babysitter here either.

I live in Nebraska and I pay my licensed, in home daycare lady $110 a week for 40 hours. My dd is 14 months old. For a babysitter on the weekends, we usually pay a high school girl $5/hr.

I don't know about daycare, but when I was younger and babysitting was my job lol, I got paid about $4.00 an hour with a minimum of $12.00.

I pay $5-6/hr for teenagers under 16 and $6-7/hr for 16-18 year olds. This is for two kids (ages 4 & 6). The rate depends on the babysitter and how much time he/she actually spent with my kids. I usually have the babysitters come around bedtime, so they spend most of their time watching movies or talking on the phone. Pretty good money for no real work!

I pay my teen sitters $5 an hour, we do not need daycare type childcare, just the occasional night out or afternoon kind of thing.

Although this summer while I work at night, DH will also not be home until about midnight so I am trying to figure out what is fair to pay from 7:30 pm-midnight as the kids should only be up a little while. I'll probably stick with the $5 an hour though.

We live in a small town in northern illinois and found a teenage girl to babysit for us once in a while, she charges $2/hr, (i only have 1 daughter). I sometimes have her brother (he lives with his mother) and he takes anything we can give him, his brothers that live with him always tell me "you dont have to pay me", but I still give their mom money to give them to babysit her. Funny, her own brother never tells me I dont have to pay. He just turned 18yrs. My daughter is 6yrs old.
