I am wondering how much people pay for a babysitter/daycare. What are average rates. I am going back to work 2 evenings per week and my 2 years old and 8 month old are going to a friends 3-4 hours in the afternoon and I'm not sure what to pay per hour.

Also, what is the rate for a teenager per hour at night?

Thank you for your help.

It really depends on what part of the country you live in. I am in Ohio and for 2 I would charge $10 hr, if it were full time I would discount that.

I pay a sitter $5 an hour to watch my 2 boys (6 and 3) . She is a teenager though, and it's on an as needed basis. I have afriend that pays her adult sitter $8 an hour for her 2 boys(4and 4) while whe works. She has paid as much as $10 an hour though.

I usually pay about 5-8 and hour. But mine is just on an "as needed" basis too.

In this area the rates are $30 a day for home care (in the baby-sitters home) if the parent brings the food, diapers, wipes and other needed supplies, $35 adds the food and for some people the diapers and wipes.

For an at home (in the child's home) baby-sitter, the rates here are $5 hr for 2 kids or less, $1 extra per child per hour for a teen and up to $12 a hr for 2 kids for a full time live out Nanny.

I pay about $8.00 an hour for three kids when we have a babysitter and I always order a pizza. I should probably pay about $10.00 but I'm cheap! I actually just got off the phone with my babysitter and she keeps coming back so I must pay enough. My parent's babysit most of the time but the kids love having the babysitter come.

You really need to call around since prices vary so much around the country. At my last daycare I paid $2.75/hr for the first child and $2 for the second for a total of $4.75 and hour. I have no idea what evening teenagers charge, because I have my daughter!
