Just buy extras of stuff when it's a good deal. Some things I'm really good on, I don't need any cleaning items, health and beuaty, or hygene items for about 2 years and we would be fine, just fine. In fact I try to stop myself from buying anymore but if it's free I do still buy it.
Grocery - stockpile here as well. I bought a freestanding cabinet for like $40 at Target and all four shelf and the top are full of mainly canned, jar and boxed food and condiments. I also have a mini feezer and my normal freezer are both packed to the gills.
I use a paysite that helps me figure out what the best prices are and when to stockpile. Sure it costs be a bit more than a $1 a week, but it's well worth it for me.
You might have to get creative in where to put your stockpile thou.... under beds can be a good place, but only if you won't forget about it! I have a door in my kitchen that leads to the basement, on the back of that door I put up a plastic hanging shoe bag/rack thing. So when the doors shut you don't see my hanging stockpile. Rice, rice mixes, beans, granola bars, fruit snacks, spice/ gravy packages etc, etc hang in this on the door, great way to free up some space, make it unseen and very much still at hand.
Good luck!
