I am the only person at work who doesn't show up with a store bought coffee in my hand, I am also the only one who does not order out for lunch. I seldom ever stray from my list when I have to shop - however when I go to yard sales I have a really hard time restraining myself from buying something at every one. I feel guilty for looking and not buying!

I actually don't spend money every day. I try to go to the grocery store once a week or two, I fill my car up once every other week, I try to bring food from home, etc. I've gone a full week without having to spend a dime before. Of course, I still don't have kids, so I have a feeling that things will change when I do!

I probably do spend most days. I LOVE soft drinks from drive-thrus that have "fizz". So I get those frequently. Plus I LOVE to grocery shop (even though I don't cook that much) or CVS bargain shop etc. Plus, staying home doesn't keep me from shopping. I'm a MAJOR online shopping person. So I usually order something a few times per wk online.

Me too! I just love the carbonation! It just isn't the same as bringing a can of soda from the house!

I think I spend money every day I'm out as well. I have no intention of doing it, it just kind of happens. I thought when I stayed home with the kids I wouldn't venture out to get something I crave. HA! If dd has the day off from school, I still will put both kids in the car if I'm craving a soda or coffee...it's so silly!

I know what you mean about kids nickel and diming you. My kids are all the time asking me for a dollar here and a dollar there. And it adds up. I think I am going to take a small notebook or use my daily calendar to write down every cent that I spend. I am scared I would be shocked!!!!

I agree! Staying home...away from stores...temptations...is the key.

Even on days where I only take the kids to school and pick them up, I can spend money. One kid needs lunch money and that is paid online with a credit card, I pay some bills by check, etc.

If I leave home, it's usually for the purpose of spending money somewhere. It's just too much effort for me to go browsing somewhere with a toddler who has the attention span of a gnat.
When I am going somewhere by myself (a rare treat!) I usually treat myself to a stop at a convenience store for a coffee or Coke. I figure I deserve it.

I try to purposely limit my running errands trips to a few days a week (for instance, Tues / Thurs or Mon / Fri). The benefit is that severely limits my ability to spend too much money. After all, you can only spend so much in one day. And making all the trips in one day helps to keep a mental total of how much is being spent. Additionally, all that shopping gets me very worn out so my desire to impulse buy wanes as the day gets longer.

I spend $ almost everyday but not big amounts. Its usually for my morning Sonic run for my large coke before work. Sometimes I may eat out for lunch twice a week. Usually get groceries once a week, but sometimes those unexpected trips come up.
