I have recently gotten hooked on the photo cards from Wal-Mart (I'm sure Costco, etc. have this too). I use them for everything (Mother's Day, Birthday Invites, Birthday Thank Yous, Christmas, etc.) I was making cards for a long time, but this is faster and easier and I can customize each card with a message (Thanks for the Lego set and for coming to my party...). Best yet you can add a digital photo(s) to each card (Birthday kiddo with the present or with the gift giver, etc.) and its only $0.33 each (free delivery to the store) (I think its $.40 for one hour) with envelope and they are really nice. Plus with photos they will likely be kept by grandma!

My husband spent $11 on two cards for me for Mom's Day. One played music and the other was huge! I accepted with a smile, but that $11 would have helped with the gas!

Great ideas - I will need to check out Dollar Tree! I have gone to making postcards (cheaper to mail) for people out of town and the response seems good!

I am the same way. For the past few years I have worked for a company that distributes to the $ store channel. Our parent company is the big gold crown.
I now get my cards from work and believe it not I hardly ever send cards now.
