I have always used the jar baby food, but I am starting to wonder if making my own would be cheaper. Does anyone know where I can get more information on how to do this?

I am at a complete loss on where to start. What do I need? How do I make it? Can I freeze it?

Try getting the book- Super baby food by Ruth Yaron. Get it from the library. It tells you how to make your own food- prepping, freezing. I ran across it from hte library and ended up buying it. I did make food for my kids using this book.
Good luck

It is cheaper. I have The Everything Cooking For Baby and Toddler Book. Its a great investment. You might even want to try to get it from the library. The recipes are easy and broken up into sections based on age. It has recipes from 4 months through toddlers.

You can freeze it. A lot of people use ice cube trays. I found these freezer cubes work great, and theyre not that expensive. You can defrost the baby food right in each cube.

The easiest way to make babyfood is to use a food processor, but for kids over 6 months, there are a lot of recipes where you can fork mash.

Good luck!

Absolutely get the book Super Baby Food. Then all you need are some ice cube trays, ziploc bags, and a food processor (doesn't have to be fancy). Not only will you save a TON of money, it's much healthier, tastier, and you aren't throwing out all those glass jars (or hauling them all to the recycling center). Cubes of homemade baby food also take up much less storage space than jars. It really is very easy to do, fun, and very rewarding.
