My Dh and I were doing one of our favorite things yesterday, Walking through the hard ware store and dream shopping. Things like lets replace all the doors and windows in our home, build a new fence, remodel the bath rooms, get a new garage door, paint, hard scape. You name it if lowes or home depot sells it we automatically have a plan for it. We also dream of having new furniture. So I am not sure how to address having such a big list of home improvement wants. I feel by the time we can afford them it will also be the time to find a bigger home for our growing family. We are trying to come up with a plan to make our home more updated without breaking the bank.
Is anyone else in this same boat? How do you continue to make improvements to your home and decore without spending Thousands?

we sit down and make a designated area of improvement per month. for instance this month is the pool (we have an inground pool) and so any extra money we have goes to the pool this month. and we just swap to different areas each month that way we are getting alittle done at a time without spending a fortune.

I've always been a household reno dreamer and put lots of those dreams into reality. However now I am much more patient, solely because I know we are in the house that we will be staying for a long long time (I hope!). Because we aren't going anywhere, I'm not in a rush to get everything done.

We just bought a house and I see sooooooooo many improvements that we can make! But we're just trying to take it slow and not put ourselves into debt over it (we already did that with the house loan)! Right now I'm focusing on the yard, though I do need to make some curtains. And our daughter's room needs carpet. And the back door was ruined by the previous people's dog and if I could just put the front door on the back door than I could get a brand new "pretty" door on the front. Oh and we need to replace the front window. And I would like to remodel the kitchen and add an additional bedroom on... the list can go on and on!

I guess you can say we dream big too!

Yes I do dream big! We do a little at a time, well I'm lying, we tend to go in spurts and spend alot one month on the house and then spend nothing for the next several...but the original plan was to do a little at a time or one area a month and we are trying to get back to that!

We shop at a discount building supply store. We also go to auctions selling new or used construction materials. e pick up stuff when we see a great deal and store it in the garage or basement until we have everything we need to start the project. Lowes has great clearance sales, you have to get there in the morning to get the best stuff. DH stops in on his way to work almost every day.

My big dream is a new house (well new tome at least). I want a big backyard. As of now ours is only big enough for the dog, so we spend most of our time at the park.

We always dream big. We just try to sit down & figure out what we absolutely need to do right now.
