I live in Southern California. However, I live inland so summer temps usually get over 100 degrees.

I like to keep our house at 75 - 78 during the summer. We have plantation shutters on all of the windows which really helps. We also bought a new, more energy efficient air conditioner which really keeps our electric bills low.

I live in Southeastern Wisconsin, two streets from Lake Michigan so it's nice and cool in the summer, usually around 75 with low humidity. We do have central air because of my husband's allergies but we only run it when his allergies are really bothering him or if we get some rare hot and humid days. Our house faces the east towards the lake and we get very nice lake breezes. If I do turn on the AC I keep it at 78. During the winter we have the thermostat set for 62 at night, 68 during the day. I am also of the belief that if we're chilly inside during the winter, put on a sweater. We installed new heat and air units a couple of years ago and this has made a huge difference in our energy bills. We also got all new windows and added insulation. These things were sorely needed, as our house is 100 years old and it had no insulation at all, with single pane windows.

We live in Kansas and it can get pretty hot here. But the weather has been really nice, so we just turned the A/C on last week. DH likes it COLD, but I don't... so we compromise at 75... but I turn it to 78 when he's not home

we keep our house at 73 degrees ( we live in SD). If it's really hot we turn it to 70...only for the reason that my daughter is heat and humid intolerant. If she gets too warm, so gets sick. We usually shut off the air at night (most nights we can). Last night we shut it off and woke up to an 82 degree home this morning. I turned the air on around 8 am and it took over three hours to cool down enough to feel comfortable. If it's cool out side we shut off the air and open windows.

I tried keeping the a/c at 76 or higher, but it doesnt make sense, its still hot in the house and I dont see the point in turning on fans if the a/c is on. So I lowered it, its now on 74 and I might go lower its so humid outside. I guess I dont see the point in running an a/c at higher than 75 --- Im paying for the electric, may as well be comfortable.

In the winter I have the heat at 58 at night and no higher than 64 - we have forced hot air and it gets really hot if its higher than 64.

I usually keep it about 78-79 when the temps are hot hot during the day and at 73 at night when nobody is always opening the door.I tried the 77 during the day but it always ran because the door was always opening from the kids.I have actually shut it off during the day on days like this b/c they woul not listen.

In the winter,67-68 is usually my temp during the day and 66 during the night.

NEOH-76 during the day or off if I can. I mostly have it on so that the upstairs doesn't get so hot. Our upstairs gets terribly warm even though I followed the instructions of my father who owns a heating/cooling company!

During the winter 68-69 and 65 I think at night.

We are very lucky to have several pine trees on our very small lot here in Portland Oregon. In the summer it is usually 10degrees cooler inside than outside without much trouble. I have 2 window ac's, one in the living room and one in our bedroom. When the temp is going to be 90+ outside, I shut all the windows as soon as the outside temp is close to the inside temp. Then I start running our fans inside. When our inside temp gets to be around 83 degrees I then open up my bedroom door and turn on both ACs to 78. By doing this I am able to keep my house quite cool. We peaked at 103 a couple of weeks ago, and my inside temperature reached 92... only after my friend came over and the kids kept running inside and out..

At night, when the outside temp is cooler than it is inside I turn my ACs to fan, open up all the windows, reinstall my window fans, and pump in the cooler air all night. Sometimes in the morning it is as cool as 68 in the house.. and that really helps. If it is still really hot in my bedroom one hour before bedtime (over 80.. I can't stand it for sleeping with my space heater who sleeps next to me.. gotta love my dh!) I turn on the AC down to 74 with my bedroom door shut. I then set it to energy conservation, with a sleep timer to shut it down in 3 hours.
