- Zoo membership (But I have to say we didn't buy it, my parents gave it to us for Christmas. But if they hadn't I was definitely going to buy it!)
- We buy a 1/4 of a cow a year, but this year we're buying 1/2 a cow. It saves a TON, plus it's hormone free meat!
- Big Stand up Freezer (for the meat of course!)
- My scrap supplies do pay for themselves. I haven't had to buy a card for almost 6 years

There was something else, but it has escaped my brain.

My dh pays for himself. Dh can fix anything. last summer he fixed the transmission. He can do anything plumbing, electrical, car, you name it he can fix it. We added a house to our house and dh did approx 97% of the work(with the help of friends).

otherwise I would say my deep freezer.

Our corn stove will pay for itself in about two years. We were heating with electric before, and the bills were about 200-300 a month during the winter. We live in MN, so we heat for about six months or more out of the year. This last winter we spent less than $400 total for corn to heat our entire house. The electricity it uses is minimal.

Our VW diesel has also nearly paid for itself in the amount we save on gas...its gets about 50 mpg.

Downgrading from the tractor to draft horses has also saved us a lot of money on gas and repairs. They're also contributing in manure to our garden.
