Dh and I are currently paying $31.00 for our aol and an additional $26.00 for highspeed access through Bellsouth. That's $57.00 a month for internet!!!! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to cut the cost? I refuse to give up my highspeed access b/c I'm a very impatient person and can't handle waiting on dial-up. I've been looking up other companies such as netzero, earthlink, etc, but I've only ever been with aol and I just don't know where to go that's cheaper. Please help!

What internet provider do you use?

Why are you paying for both? I have roadrunner through my cable company which is highspeed and I pay $30 a month. Look online at your cable companies site and see if they offer a package deal that would be cheaper. Phone companies have those deals to. So check out both and see which would be better.

I just recently changed my AOL because I also have highspeed through my cable company and you get AOL for FREE!!! All this time I have been paying 19.95 a month and I really didn't need to. Just go to keyword billing and choose the free aol one. Hope that helps .

I was about to write the same thing. I have been with AOL since 1997 and when I left there DSL package they told me that I would now be able to keep their service for free by doing the same thing that fostermomma2 said.

Quick question about the free aol...this is what I read at the site:

Quote:
AOL® Free Services Option - With the AOL Free Services plan, you can enjoy unlimited access to AOL for free while you are connected to the Internet through a separate Internet provider (not AOL) with our free services option. You will also get the AOL Security Suite and access to AOL Radio.
Now, I have DSL service through bellsouth (or at&t whichever it is right now), so is that my seperate internet provider that is mentioned above?

I just got this in an email, which seems to have been posted on June 19, 2007. DOES NOT APPLY TO CURRENT AND FORMER BELL SOUTH OR AT&T BROADBAND SUBSCRIBERS, so this probably won't help out the orginal poster of this thread (since you're already a subscriber) but I just thought I'd pass along the info. for future readers of this thread.

AT&T Now Offers $10 DSL Plan

Well, after grumbling about the cost of high-speed Internet in yesterday's post, it looks like relief is finally here. As part of an agreement with the FCC, AT&T is now offering DSL service for $10 a month. To get the offer, you'll need to log in to the AT&T website, and click on the orange "Term Contract Plans." link at the bottom of the "Internet" page. (It's a bit hidden, but well worth the search.)

The plan will be offered for at least 2 and 1/2 years, and includes a free modem. To qualify, you must agree to a one-year service contract, and subscribe to their local phone service. Current and former subscribers to Bell South or AT&T broadband are not eligible.
