This is for you West Coast shoppers. If you have seen a Grocery Outlet store and not gone into it, you must. Many of them look yucky on the outside, but are OK on the inside. Some things are good prices and some are not. However, some of the prices are the best I have ever found. For example, last year I got three-packs of Lawry's steak marinade (2) and a BBQ sauce for $0.99. Lunch meat is always lower than the regular store. Snack foods (they vary all the time) is always a good price, but you can't get one specific thing), but this helps me keep variety in packed lunches.

I got the Barbie 12 Dancing Princesses carriage for $12.99 (Retail $46). And on and on...

Just be patient the first couple of visits and look carefully at prices. Some things are not a good price. Toothpaste is usually cheaper at Dollar Tree. Milk is cheaper at the regular grocery store. Frozen food, in general, is a bargain at Grocery Outlet. Happy shopping!

I used to live in a town that had a Grocery Outlet. I loved it!
Shampoo and cleaning products are great deals as well.
Wish we had one where I live now.

These are actually in the south, too. We had them in Alabama, and my mom has one in Florida.

We have Amelias and another one. The prices on many items are good...but you hav to watch and know your prices. Mine also sells expired foods....I don't mind cereal that is 1 month over but I picked up musturd...and it was expired in 2004. I stick with the if in doubt throw it out so I had to pas on those kinds of things! I love geting the diapers there...I got a case of huggies for 21.99 and there were 200 size 4! Not too bad!

We have Big Lots, which sounds kind of like what you are talking about. We used to go to the Hostess Outlet and get their expired bread and Twinkies, and they had other things, but they closed both locations near us.
