What frugal summer fun have you been using this summer?????!?!?!

We have been taking advantage of our pool at the apartment. No using gas, no paying for admission, just hanging out and swimming. Exercise, free and fun! I found a like new Speedo bathing suit at the thrift store a few months ago for $2 for my daughter. I found myself a cute suit for $3. $5 plus some sunblock and you can keep us entertained a lot during the summer. So I say that is pretty great. In fact for her birthday party we are going to do a swim party out there at the pool and do cake and ice cream and presents. How inexpensive and fun is that?????

We have also gone to the local parks a few times which only cost us gas. We have walked around the park and used the slides, swings, etc. My daughter LOVES it.

We have taken advantage of the library and gotten free DVD check outs as well. Why waste the money on renting a movie when you can get it for free?? My daughter LOVES getting to pick out movies at the library.

So overall, we are pretty inexpensive to entertain for the summer so far. I think I might spend a little and take her to an amusement park during the summer sometime, but we can have her dad pick the tickets up on base and get military discount for it.

Come on girls, put your thinking caps on!!! Hopefully we have some fun responses. It is Monday for crying out loud. Let's get a good thread going.:happy dance:

Well we bought one of those family size blow up wading pools with the debris covers for $29. We have more than gotten our money's worth out of it!! My kids have a blast and are out there pretty much every afternoon.

I just discovered that there is a free beach in town that we will be going to! (We just moved here this winter!)

My kids started summer rec programs today. They are low cost and there is something for everyone!! (my kids are doing tennis, arts and crafts, tot program and Chineese!)

The library has a great, free, summer reading program!

There is an abundance of parks around here.

Board games have been big so far.

That is about all I can think of and I have to go pick my son up from his summer rec program!

We bought one of those pools that Happymom has also!! Kids love it & spent a lot of time in it over the weekend. We have been cooking out, kids playing in the backyard playing with bubbles-ds favorite thing. Gone to the parks, dd is having swim lessons. VBS, coloring, reading, board games. That's all I can think of right now.

The kids are in the story book program at the library and that is free. Their summer rec which is twice a week is only $10 per week. Swim lessons were a little pricey, but to know that they are learning something valuable is worth it. Let's see what else???

sidewalk chaulk
park
bubbles
arts and crafts at home
riding bikes
printable pages on the internet
I found them some fisher price little people work books at the dollar store for $1! I know we will go thru those in probably a few weeks. But they had other ones there too.
walks
library-borrow books and movies- cant go wrong with the price, even if you take it back late a day or two.
Library-next month they will have a free puppet show and magic show.
