I think that most of us would say that we are moral honest people. We want to save money in our couponing and not be treated like suspect criminals when we come to the check out with our wad of coupons. Recently while in target a store coupon, which I had printed off at the store, did not have a complete bar-code. The line was held because the cashier refused to to take the coupon. The line was held up while I explained to the cashier and then the floor manager that it was from a coupon that I had printed off in their store. I think the cashier felt bad because she preceded to tell me about a lady that had been in the store that recently walked away with over $300 hundred worth of free proctor and gamble merchandise because she photo copied a coupon. The manufacture of course would not refund this and the store was out quite a bit of money.
It got me to thinking quite a bit about couponing ethics. The challenge that I have made to myself is to go above and beyond so that I can develop trust again in the store community. Coupons are a benefit to consumer and stores if used correctly. I am taking the time to read the coupon. If the Target coupon says " can not use with any other Target offer" I will not try to slide it past the young cashier that isn't paying attention. Why? Because its the honest, ethical thing to do. It also establishes trust between consumer and stores. I want a bargain and a store is more likely to give it to me if they don't think they are trying to be cheated.
