Do you find that your children follow in your footsteps by being frugal or bargain hunters? I went to Wal-Mart today with my dd and we found some great bargains on jeans. She was very happy to find the jeans she wanted for $18 was on clearance for $4. We got several good buys and came home overjoyed. I can tell I have a thrifty shopper on my hands and couldn't be more proud!! What about you??

No, my two boys have not shown any interest in frugality yet. It's only when it's made clear that they will have to spend their own hard earned money that they decide they don't "need" something. I guess that's a start!

My dd 5 always says "is it a good deal, mom?". I guess my ways are wearing off on her. My ds 7 just wants it. Maybe he'll catch on later!

No. My kids are instant gratification girls. If they want something and don't have enough money, they will just buy something else. I've recently got the book The Money Tree Myth and I'm hoping it will help me teach them more financial responsibility. I'm not the best example but I'm working on it!

I think dd 5 is starting to catch on. We will go to the grocery store and she wants to get all the coupons to take home and put in the binder. Also when we go for treat at a fast food restaurant she will say things like mom the happy meal is to expensive and I don't need the toy.

Yes!!! All my kids know that if there's not a sale sticker on it, don't even bother asking. They all look for coupons in the Sunday paper & they all head to to back corner of stores looking for clearance racks! BTW, they are 10, 8, 6 & 5!
