My mother is 59 yrs old and believe me this woman works two jobs and only have 2 hours of sleep every night. I don't know if she is enjoying it or not but she doesn't seem to be bother with very little sleep. When we visited her three weeks ago. She spent too much money on us I thought we are going to be paying her for the rest of our lives. Whenever we tried to pay for something she would always get mad at us for doing it We finally gave up and told her that when she gets old and can't work anymore both her and my dad are going to stay with us. We hardly come home to visit her and it was her first time seeing her grandson which she spent $2500 on him ALONE. She eventually showed us her bank account which has $70,000 and she work two jobs for 15 years now since she moved from the Philippines and before that she never had any money whatsoever. Both her and my dad are also thrifty and never buys anything UNLESS they actually NEED IT. I finally asked her how she did it saving that much money in less than 20 yrs.

1. She always shop in the thrift store
2. She never waste anything
3. She never compete with her neighbors
4. She save as much as she can even if its just $10
5. She walk anywhere to save gas (if its near)
6. She STAY HOME to avoid temptations
7. She set long term goals
8. She grow her own vegetables
9. Set an amount to spend every payday until the next one and stick to it
10. She got big barrel and whenever it rains she collects the water and use it to water her garden, wash the car, and bath sometimes
11. She hand wash her clothes and dry it outside
12. She PRAYS a lot too
13. She doesn't have any cable, or computer (she doesn't know how to use them)
14. She does her own repair in the house with the help of my dad
15. She rufuse to go to the MALL or EAT OUT
16. She have a good attitude about life and the people around her
17.She is always be thankful of what she have
18.She never buys anything that she doesn't need
19. She collects soda cans and recycle it (she had done it for years) she get a dime for each one
20. Save,Save,Save and Save

That's very inspiring! I like to hear that she's willing to splurge on her grandson.

Good for her. That's quite the savings account and what an accomplishment.
I hope she is having some fun along the way too.
