Do you have any frugal plans or did you do anything frugal this weekend?

Well I am part of the use it up challenge, so I am cooking stuff this weekend where I am using up stuff that I already have in my pantry so I didn't have to buy much when I went shopping yesterday.

Instead of buying lunch out like we usually do on Saturday's, we took a picnic to the park. Also managed to go shopping in a few stores and not buy anything but a paper for coupons!

We went on a picnic too. It was so much fun. The kids loved it and it lasted so much longer than a meal out at a fast food place.

My daughter likes popsicles - correction my daughter loves popsicles. But I always had issues with what was in the popsicles. It seems to get healthy ones you had to pay an arm and a leg for them. But to get the cheap ones they were full of high fructose corn syrup and God only knows what else.

I remembered as a kid that we use to make our own popsicles and thought they were the best but I hadn't seen the molds for them in years. Mind you I hadn't looked for them either. Anyway I had mentioned the desire to make our own popsicles to my husband and sure enough, while shopping at Target this weekend he found them!

So now we're able to make our own popsicles out of 100% fruit juices that I buy on sell. I figure it will all pay for itself after about two weeks worth of popsicles! The best part? My daughter thinks they're the best. Today she asked me, "Can I have a popsicle? The ones that we made!"

We walked down to our favorite Sunday walking spot - the recycling bin at an elementry school to temerarily liberate packs of coupons to be recycled. I love it when we find some. Got 4 packs this week! Now hopfully they are good ones!

I was thinking about making popcicles today... hmm. Now I know where to find molds!!!!!!!!

We ate in ALL weekend. The weekends are usually when we order pizza, pick up deli sandwiches, you know, something quick. But this weekend, we ate from what we have here already! I made yummy and quick grilled pizzas out of tortilla shells and sauce and cheese I already had. Yeah us!!
