Does it seem to you that the price of pretty much all groceries have gone up at least a few cents? I just did my grocery shopping and noticed how all those cents add up!! I am going to have to start rethinking some of my grocery shopping habits. I will have to sit down and give it all some serious thought. For example, cheddar and mozerella blocks are something we have always had in our refrigerator, but man, that has gotten so expensive!!! Yikes, so much thinking is not good for me

It's due to corn prices!!!! It may sound like one of those things that doesn't make too much of a big deal, but corn is in so many things and when farmers are planting more of it b/c of the price it's going for it makes all the other crops selling prices go up with it. So blame it on the demand of E85 gas and the oil companies. Also almost all of the trucking companies are charging extra fuel surge charges to the stores. Like on our garbage bill they are charging us an extra few bucks for the high gas cost.

I wonder if there's something, other than gas prices, causing milk to go up so much. 2months ago I could get a gallon on sale for $2.50. Now, its on sale for $3.50. Everything has gone up but $1 on milk really seems extreme.

ITA w/ macnkeebler that the demand for corn is a big factor in prices. There've been articles in all our local papers about that the past few weeks. And even w/ milk, not only do you have the increase in cost of fuel used in getting the milk to the plants and then to the stores, but you have the increase in cost of feed for the cows (which is often times corn!), it all adds up, and someone has to pay for it!

I thought I was the only one noticing this. We used to always have milk for 2 bucks a gallon and you're lucky if you can find it on sale for 2.50 now. That doesn't seem like a lot of money, but it sure adds up. That is why I really second think everything we buy now adays. I bet that sounds cheap, but everything is really adding up lately. I used to spend so much money eating out, but that is a big saver lately. We haven't been eating out. But sometimes it just feels like I might as well since even grocery prices keep jumping up and up!

I hate the fact that prices are going up on almost everything It does not help that at this time my hubby who has had heavy OT for 2 years now has not had any for about 2-3 months now... finally a bit of a break for him but hard on the finances. Plus we are having to pay more for insurance and they will no longer pay office professionals or engineers for their 9th hour of work which means $400-600 less a month loss of pay with just insurance and loss of the 9th hour. Add another $400-600 on top of that after taxes for no OT. It means we had $1000 leave our budget each month So I have been cutting back like crazy and it hurts.

DH and I were talking about this last week when I did the grocery shopping. Everything has gone up at least 10% in our area. Plus, the store that used to double and sometimes triple coupons has stopped doing that. We will have to refigure our budget and find the extra money somewhere.
