OK, I'm in the process of reading a book called "House Works" by Cynthia Townley. It's all about organizing your home. I came across something I remember hearing before but had never thought about it in terms of organizing.

She called it "21 days to success"! Apparently if you do something for 21 days in a row you will create a new habit. I'm very excited about this concept and remembered back to when we sold our last house. My husband had already moved to a different state for a new job and I stayed behind for a month or so while we sold our house. I was in charge of cleaning the house. I would basically stay out of it for the most part but every morning I had to make my bed. Ever since then it is a habit of mine to make my bed every day!

So that got me thinking that I need to challenge myself to learn a new habit! The new habit I plan on working on is one I heard here - My plan is to start the dishwasher every night (no matter how many dishes are in it) and unload it first thing in the morning! I HATE doing dishes, so I'm hoping before long it won't be so horrible!!

So I'm challenging all of you to start a new habit too! Anyone up for the challenge?? What habits would you like to start???

I did this with my laundry several months back..and it WORKS!! Imay get behind a few loads now and again, but I NEVER get behind enough to go to the laundry mat and use EVERY WASHER now...which I had done SEVERAL times! (I'll go hide in shame now!!) I've hear this also works for exericise and diet!

This is a good idea..

We don't usually have enough dishes to warrant using the dishwasher, but I do wash my dishes either at night or in the morning before work. I really like not having dishes in the sink.. LOL

My challenge for me: Put a load of laundry in at night and hang it out or put in the dryer in the morning. then all I will have to do is fold when I get home in the evening.

Great idea! My challenge will be daily clutter control and having the kids put toys away as they play. I tend to accumulate stuff on counters. I just have to stop and put everything in its proper spot.

This is a great idea. I really need to do this with laundry. I tend to let it go or just wash and dry but never get it put away.

Mine will be Clutter Control for the kids - I need to be better at making sure the kids pick up EVERYTHING before they go to bed.
I will also add - Making sure I spot clean the hard floors in the kitchen and dining room at least once a day. There always seems to be spots and food crumbs

I also need to work on keeping the kitchen floors swept up daily!

She does suggest that you learn 1 habit at a time, but if they're all related maybe it wouldn't be so bad. For example, mine have to do with keeping the kichen pretty clean!

I should do this for making the bed. I'm not good at remembering to do that.
