I am glad to know that I am not the only one who keeps my contacts for longer than I should!

*tissue boxes- I store plastic grocery bags in there to use for small waste baskets. You can really get alot in there.
*plastic grocery bags
*juice containers- we take iced tea to the pool or picnic (I prefer milk containers, but they don't have turn caps anymore)
*gift bags
*string & ribbon from packages
*fabric softner sheets (wipe down spickets really makes them shine)
*my mil used to reuse vacuum cleaner bags, she would empty them in trash.

We always save the spoons and straws we get from eating at fast food places and this saves having to buy a lot of them, especially for packing my kids' lunches. They go in the dishwasher and they get reused until they become damaged, melted or too gross to clean.

I also reuse paper and styrofoam plates, ziploc bags, alum foil, junk mail envelopes.

Twist ties
Plastic grocery bags (I line my small trash cans with them!)
The large carboard box that holds those juice pouches (My kids make tunnels out of them for their Hot Wheels!)

I am not a pack rat and not one to keep things around to reuse. I am a VERY AVID recycler who recycles all my things so they can be reused as other things that I can buy again to use in my household.

Disposable contacts (I have monthlies, usually use them for around three months, toss whenever they don't feel right anymore)
Water Bottles
Twist Ties
Ziplock Baggies (only occasionally, I need to get better about this)
Plastic bags from stores (bathroom trash bags)
Margarine containers (for tomato based products like leftover spaghetti, I HATE staining my good stuff... I usually save them, use them once for leftovers then toss them rather than deal with the tomato sauce yuck.)

My frugal confession is that I re-use paper plates. I bought some nice paper plates at Costco for a party but they didn't get used. They are so nice and so heavy-duty that I can't stand the idea of just using them once. Because my breakfast is just a toasted bagel, I use them for that. The plate never gets very dirty anyway.

I also keep my disposable brand of contact lenses much longer than intended. I talked to my opthmologist about it and he that was just fine. He said the disposable contacts have to live up to the same quality standards as the 'permanent' kind. It is all in the marketing. Since I don't have a problem with protein build-up, my disposables last me 6 months or more. I can make a 2 boxes of the disposables (about 6 in a box, two different prescriptions) last over 2 years.

My husband, daughter and I keep our contacts for longer then they say. I also refill the foam soap bottles with diluted soap. Anything that can be used for crafts like those little fruit cup bowls. Great for paint and water. I also recycle what I can't reuse so that it can be reused.
