My daughter's birthday is tomorrow and we are having a party. I didn't want to break the bank this year. I think her party is going to be more fun than the past years and cost MUCH less. She is going to be 3 years old.

Since she loves swimming so much, I decided we would do a swim party. We asked a close family friend if we could have the party at their house and they were happy to accept. I was thinking of all the food I could serve and this and that.... and then I decided that we aren't going to go to that all trouble because most of the time is going to be spent swimming. So I decided I would just get cake and ice cream and call it a party.

So I thought it through and knew that I would need cake, ice cream, plates, forks, candles and that should cover it. The average cake is about $20 wherever I go. I am not one to make cakes. They don't turn out well, trust me. I don't do a great job decorating them. I was going to go to Sam's Club and get a cake from there, but I got a call from my Grandma who told me she had a cake for us to come and pick up. (She gets the day old bread for free at Vons through this organization and they had this cute sheet cake. She thought of my daughter's party and how that would save us money to take it.) Cake, check! The plates, forks and candles- I am going to go to the dollar store that is right by our house for. That won't set me back much at all. So really, the only expense is the ice cream and really.... what $5 for all of it? So I am pulling off a big party for less than $10!!! :happy dance:

Then I got to thinking of what special things we could do that would be fun for just her and I before that. I got a coupon for Mimi's Cafe for a free dinner up to $30. (We had a REALLY bad service and food last time we went and the manager gave us the coupon to try them out again free of charge, in addition to taking the bill from us and not making us pay since it was NOT good when we went.) So tonight her and I will be going to dinner together... for free, well... other than gas getting there, but that shouldn't be that bad.

I also scheduled an ultrasound appointment for tomorrow EARLY morning to find out the sex of the baby. So that will cost $75. I already planned on spending that whether it was tomorrow or not. She will get to find out if she gets a brother or a sister on her birthday. I think that is special to me! I know she will love going to see that !

Tomorrow morning after the ultrasound and before her birthday party we are going to get her pictures taken for free at Sears for her birthday. I received the coupon on my email yesterday. I think that is awesome!!! So other than some gas, another free adventure. LOL!

So this weekend should be really inexpensive and fun for us!!!!!

:happy dance:
