We have one main credit card and a backup. I also have an Old Navy card. Balances paid every month.

For those of you who only have ONE card, I do recommend having a backup. Here's why: last year we were victims of credit card fraud. Someone was racking up $3,000, $4,000, $6,000 charges on our card and went over our limit. We had to put a security hold on the card until they could figure out what was going on. It just so happened we were leaving to go to Iceland two days after that, not enough time for them to send us another card (they won't overnight them). So, we were SO glad we had a backup card. We had never even activated it, but all that took was one phone call.

We make sure we keep every reciept for our credit card and compare it to the bill at the end of the month. There have been two times where this helped us. Once we were charged twice for airline tickets, and once we were billed for digital tv from a company not even in our state.

2...Sears and Visa.....Don't need, never use. They are actually in the bottom of the filing cabinet somewhere. Now my debit card.....THAT is another story. We have actually worn it out and needed to replace them! We never seem to have any trouble with hotels etc not that we do any of that much living on a ranch in the middle of NOWHERE!

we have 4 total and one is maxed out but i got them to lower the interest rate so we can get it paid off.. the others have small balances.. this has been a bad area for us but we are slowly digging ourselves out and have not charged anything in over a year.

I have a citicard that I put everything on and pay it off once a month, I like getting the cash back on it. So far I have been very disciplined in paying it off and I have gotten $150 back in rewards, its been nice.
Then I have an Old navy card that I buy things with there on occasion. I like it because I get money back on it too for even more clothes. I try to keep the cards down, I don't like to be in debt.
