I ran across this tip the other day that I had no idea of. IF you like microwave popcorn but don't want to spend the $$ put a handful of regular popcorn in a paper bag, fold the top down and pop it for 2-3 minutes. It is healthy and you can add your own ingredients after your done.

It sounds a little silly but I am one of those people who are afraid something might be worth more one day. Whenever I go to the bank I ask the teller If I can have $5 in older dollar or half dollar coins. My experience from working at the bank is at least all if not a few of the tellers will have dollar coins and half dollar coins stocked. It feels almost like a treasure to me. I go home and place the coins in my safe and watch them build. Another version I use to do but have not done as often is ask the teller if they have any $2 bills and get $10 worth every month. Kids think that the $2 bills and the larger dollar coins are truly treasure that most want to build their own treasure as well. So not only can you save for yourself you can really get your children excited as well!!

i have to agree, the best way to save the most is to not go out. now that i don't have to go out, i don't! it works wonders!
not only that, but i am going to start walking more...i can save gas.
i think the best way to save is to buy generic when possible. there are many generic brands that taste just as good, if not better, than the name brand. i have compiled a list of generic name brands that are comparable to name brands and save alot of money. i plan on bringing this list to my next money savings class to hand out to the moms.
i also think buying used vehicles instead of new is a huge money saver. i can buy a 2005 honda civic for 7k now...when it first came out (only three years ago) after taxes and stuff, i was charged 23k for on! a 14k savings in only 2 years, definitely worth it. i will never buy a brand new car again...ever.
ebay is also a great place to save daily. when possible, i buy lots of clothing for the girls from ebay.
the salvation army is a great saver on dishes, clothes, and you also find something VERY valuable for cheap there every now and then! definitely a bargain shopper i am!

This works so well, that when we ran out of microwave popcorn (the case from Costco), I bought regular popcorn and have never looked back! We love it with butter and popcorn salt. There are a variety of recipes for this on the internet . . . even on the Food Network website.
I have a recipe for Homemade Kettle Corn, too, but haven't tried it yet.

I lived in a townhouse in downtown Denver. I didn't have a "yard" so I had to make my own with containers. I grew everything from flowers to pumpkins and watermelons to tomatoes.
To save on water, I used my dish water from when I washed the dishes to water my plants.
To make my home nice with plants, I would go to the store and ask to buy the throw aways (the ones that didn't bloom, only a few plants) for when they went to seed.
I also vermicompost my trash instead of composting to help my plants grow heathier and stronger.
I hope this helps

buy a brisket and slice it down into "steaks". (I personally merinate them before I put them in the freezer and leave the merinate with the meat in the freezer.)
Make use of that crock pot

One of the best ways I have learned to save money is when shopping make a list, stick to it, and don't go shopping more than once a week at most. I can't tell you how much I have saved at the grocery store or at Target alone by doing this.

I also think the empty boxes that they come in, make great organizey containers. I have one that is holding tealights and floating candles right now. I can't wait to use up my next box. I am planning to use it for scrapbooking supplies.

I use the used dryer sheets on my floor cleaner thingy, they stick right in there. I've actually used them up on my walls to get spider webs too. It works great! You can use the dryer sheets for regular dusting as well. I have a bucket next to the dryer and store them in there. They are great for wiping down the washer and dryer when they get detergent and dust on there. My favorite is using them to deweb the laundry room. Since it's constantly full of webs!
