Here r some tips for saving more money.

1. Start Small - I started by saving $20 out of each paycheck and put it into my bank's savings account. That way it was easily available and I could transfer it back into the checking account in case I needed it.
2. Build Up - After we had $100 in that savings account, I bumped the amount we saved twice a month to $50, which meant we were saving $100 a month!
3. Stash It - When I had $200 in my savings account, I put $100 of that money into an ING Direct savings account. If I needed the money it would take three business days to get it back, but I still had the other half in the easy to access local savings account
4. Lather, Rinse, Repeat - We're up to saving $100 per paycheck and it goes directly into the ING Direct account. We keep $200 available in the local savings at all times, so there are layers of protection for emergencies.

Simple things like saving water and saving energy at home can save you money on your utility bills. We need to make good choices about how we use our resources. A kilowatt of energy saved is always cheaper and easier than a kilowatt produced. Conservation is where the big saving are. I think planning ahead is a way to save money every day!

If you're going out with the kids, think about them wanting snacks/drinks and pack ahead of time.

Going on a trip, plan for all you might need, so you're not buying things when you're out.

Plan meals for week/month (and try to shop with items you have)

Plan your shopping trips, so you have all your coupons organized!

Plan for birthdays/holidays...I am always thinking of WHO i could give something to when I find a good bargain!

: )

AtomicPenny, you mentioned having them out near the end of the warranty period. I do this for my autos, but I've never heard of or even thought of having someone just come out for a checkup. Do they charge for that or is it usually under the warranty? I did try to have guys go over the rest of the dishwasher and fridge on service calls, but they refused, saying that wasn't on the work order. Any specific company that you've had success with? Mine were thru GE and Whirlpool (but could have been through the rules of the actual repair company.

Love the idea about taking a kid along when trying to get service in stores. Mine are rambunctious, rather than easy cryers (at least at stores), and that isn't welcome either. Thanks for that hint.

I've had great luck with expired coupons (not like months old though obviously) at retail chains. Kohls is awesome about it, target, joann fabrics, michaels. Grocery chains tend to be more of a stickler but usually they will take them. Say you were out of town and unable to use it by whatever date. If you think you may have an issue with them accepting a really good one bring a cranky kid in with you, I bet they try and get you through as quickly as they can

Hi all! I'm new here so I don't know if this has been posted yet. It certainly isn't a new idea by any means but I just did this myself the other day and was very pleased! I went to a beauty college for a haircut and pedicure. The haircut, which turned out great, was only $5. The pedicure was $12, which is cheaper than the local salons. So, if you're looking for a cheap way to pamper yourself or get the family haircuts, I would most certainly look into this inexpensive and alternate way to do it!

I also started hanging out wash to save money. I figured out I am saving about 50.00 a month doing this. I am trying to consolidate my grocery shopping to no more than two stores as before I was running all over to get the bargains but using a lot of gas. Now I only go to two stores unless a third store can really save me enough that it is worth the gas.

Hi all, I recently try to save more money too.
The best way for me is to bring little amount of money in your wallet. I tend to spend all money at my wallet when I go shopping so recently, I just take few dollars with me and even when I'm tempted to spend all of the money, it's just fine
The second way is to save your money in the bank. Sure they will charge you monthly fee, but it's better than saving it in your house. Once again, I always tempted to take money that I save in my house
I hope these helps. Thanks
