I thought it would be interesting to see what others have to get and how much it will cost you. I haven't started yet but we don't start until sept. I know some of u start in august.

post your list/supplies and prices, if it's a really good deal where u got it.

Here's the list for my son who will be starting K (half day mind you) in the fall, and we had an option during registration to pay $23 to take care of these supplies. I can't remember if I paid or not, so they're checking for me. But now that I look at the list, I'm thinking, maybe I could have done this for way less then $23, and I did my math correctly, I could have bought all this for less than $15 to be honest.
10 glue sticks
2 boxes 16 Crayola count crayons
8 washable Crayola markers
1 pair of blunt scissors
1 container of baby wipes (Huggies)
1 marble composition book (for homework journal)
1 box tissue
1 box gallon size Zip bags
1 green laminated folder (for take home papers)
1 small container liquid hand sanitizer (7.5 oz)

We still don't get list for school supplies! Thank goodness- maybe I just have not gotten one of those teachers yet! Here is my list!

mechanical pencils (with lead) $2.38
pencil box .97
pencil set (with sharpener and erasers) 1.97
4 pack erasers 1.00
colored pencils 1.00
hand sanitizer .97
TOTAL: $ 8.29

She has her backpack from last year (still in great shape), I bought a 10 pack of notebooks last year on clearance for .28 cents and she has 4 folders that she did not use from last year. So with the price of the notebooks from last year the total is now $8.57. We are done getting her supplies for school already- unless the teacher sends home a list of supplies!

Well, dd's school doesn't actually provide us with a supply list -- they strongarm us parents into forking over $35 for school supplies. They don't allow us to bargain shop and buy our kids' supplies. Many of you know that this is a sore subject for me.

In addition to the yearly extortion fee, I was given this "Please Bring" list:

3 rolls of paper towels
3 boxes of tissues
all-purpose cleaner
medium Solo cups
Germ-X
Ziplock freezer bags, large and small (Geez, what the heck are they going to do with these?)
liquid antibacterial soap
baby wipes

I've estimated that the above list will cost somewhere between $15 - $20, so I'm going to have to spend around $50 - $55 for school supplies!!! Thank goodness I only have to buy for one kid.

There's also a list for things that would be greatly appreciated by the teacher (i.e. optional stuff). Well, as far as I'm concerned, she can take some of that $35 extortion fee and buy what she needs.

I had alot of the stuff on my 3rd grade ds's list already. The other two have a fee and do not need to bring supplies. My dd is in high school and they don't get lists.

I bought:

Wooden metric ruler .97
one wide lined notebook .10
red ball point pen 2in a pk .66
box of 24 Crayolas .20
box of 200 Kleenex 1.58

I got them all at WalMart. I still need to buy a calculator.

We were given a list a mile long for DS for kindergarten. He is going to a new charter school and I'm assuming they just don't have a lot of money to spend.

Bandaids 1.77
Waterbottle 6.24
Watercolor paints (2) .97 each
Thin markers .78
Thick markers .78
Crayons .20
Colored pencils .20
2 boxes of pencils .97 each
wet wipes 2.14
Elmer's glue .17
pack of glue sticks .20
hand sanitizer 1.87
scissors .50
binder 1.97
2 pocket folder (6) .10 each
pink pearl eraser .97
dry erase markers 2.97
copy paper 2.97
tissue 1.00

There were a couple things that I couldn't find and still need to get, including an old large shirt for art (which DH will just give him one of his).

Oh, and I still have to get him a backpack.

Dang, now I'm feeling like I've been ripped off! At our school, you can buy the prepackaged supply kits and the PTA makes a little money off of them. After last year and not being able to find some of the things on the list, I bought them. I have a 2nd grader and a kindergartener. I spent $120 on the packs, total. I want to say 2nd grade was $65 and k was $55.
