Does your state offer a tax free holiday to help with back to school shopping? Here in Iowa it's the first full weekend in August. Almost anything you can wear is included (some specific shoes aren't). They even include diapers. Every little bit of savings counts.

We do not have tax on clothes here in PA so no need for a tax holiday.

no sales tax in Oregon either.

Now that I have lived here for almost 8 years, I forget to calculate sales tax when I go home to WI to visit my parents. So, I am always surprised by my totals when I get to the register. LOL!

In FL we had a tax holiday for hurricane supplies in the end of May/early June, and we usually have one for back to school in July or August as well. But this year I haven't heard when the date for the back to school one is yet - I'm not even 100% sure we are going to have it.

Honestly, I am bad with taking advantage of these. If I have $ available, I will utilize it, but if I don't have the $ then I don't bother. Since I am a teacher I usually have barely any $ over the summer and get a lot of my kids' school shorts and shirts after school starts and I get paid again. I wait until Target and other places put the uniform-type shorts on clearance.

We have a tax free weekend in Texas in mid August, it used to be the beginning of August but our state government has made it mandatory for schools to not start until the end of August so they moved our tax free weekend to the middle of the month.

I am GREEN with envy I live in Illinois, and we are taxed on EVERYTHING!!!!!! There is no such thing as tax-free......I am suprised that we are not taxed for breathing....LOL.......I wish that we had tax free times. ray:

Maybe all of the states that have tax free days could post them and we "poor" people from other states could plan vacation for that time to your state and take advantage of saving money.....LOL......travel for hours to save a little $$$.........it sounds like it could work.....
