LOL! Oh my gosh this is one reason I love my DH! He would use generic EVERYTHING if I bought it. He just wouldn't care. I love coming home from the grocery with tons of stuff and he goes "Ok, lets hear it, how much did you save today?" Its hilarious! Its a game we play because he pretends he doesn't care but he really does. When I brought home a receipt where I had over $50 in coupon savings his jaw about hit the floor! I spent $150 and got over $200 in groceries...at the Commissary no less so I REALLY got a lot!! I couldn't care less about what other people think...really! I use coupons everywhere I can and check prices and comparison shop, etc. Even with gifts I don't care. I try to do something personal and if they don't like it, tough beans, I was raised its the thought that counts!

A while back I this lady I know was looking for a particular brand of shoes. I noticed them on sale and when I saw her I told her. She turns to me and in a super snotty voice says, "I pride myself on never buying anything on sale."
Hmm guess she told me.

I am not ashamed of being frugal at all. I am proud of my mom teaching me her frugal ways. We were always dressed nice because my mom found us nice clothes at yard sales and thrift shops. We would get new clothes for school but mom would look for the sales. When I got my first job at fifteen, I still bought my clothes at yard sales and thrift stores and sometimes I would shop for sales at the mall. I like discussing how much money I save.

I never get embarrassed about being frugal. I think I'm being smart with our families money. I save all the ads for the week and then make my grocery list and see where I can get what I need the cheapest. I did have only one experience where a bunch of us mom's where standing around talking and she said really snotty that she never shop's at Wal-mart. That's fine, but I don't even remember anyone asking her where she shopped! If I'm talking with friends I'll ask them if they mention a generic product how well it compares to a name brand and try it. My cousins buys pretty much all generic brand groceries. I wait for her to try them and then give me her review. HEHE, and I absolutely LOVE coming home and telling my husband how much money I saved or how much I spent to get all our food. He never really cares. He just wants to make sure I got some kind of sweets.

If you are a sahm, you are NOT unemployed! Just had to point that out.

I don't get embarrassed when I get a good deal. I like to share how much I saved.

I was school shopping with my MIL and DSD last week, we were looking at the sale rack in Buckle and had found two very cute tops, I walked out of the store to shop somewhere else and my DSD said the minute I left my MIL looked at her and said come on lets go back up to the regular priced stuff, we don't ever want to buy anything CHEAP! Can you believe this! So Lexie only got one new shirt because the others in the back were cheap. My MIL cant stand that I buy generic and shop at the Goodwill for my children's clothes.

My belief is: Watch your little dollars and the big will take care of themselves.

I am NEVER ashamed of being a frugal person! In fact I make it known that I can be a total cheapie or penny pincher! I use coupons whenever I go grocery shopping, restaurants, and wherever I have a coupon for. My sister-in-law last year poked fun at me about buying stuff at yard sales and selling on ebay. I simply shrugged it off and told her "hey, it's extra money for me and my family". What's amusing about it is sometimes they act like they are so much better because they are well off...I simply put her back in her place and tell her that to remember there is a "huge" age difference between us and they. They are 50 years old and my hubby and I are only 30. I make a point to let her know that we own our 2nd home, have cars that are almost payed off and I'm lucky enough to be a SAHM and work on my bachelors at the same time. While they during our age now, were struggling on welfare. That shut her up! Every now and then they always compliment on the beautiful clothes my girls wear; I always tell them that I found them at a yard sale, on consignment, or the clearance rack. Just a few months ago she asked if I could save my little Lilly's dresses for her daughters whey they have kids. Ha! that's so funny...after she poked fun of me on where I buy my stuff! My hubby is so proud of me for finding items on sale and saving a lot of our money (no CC bills). He's even learned to follow in my foot steps. I don't really care much anymore on impressing anyone outside our home. At least I know we're comfortable with our financial situation. I don't know if any of you read the book "The millionaire next door". You never know who they really are because they don't flaunt it!

Why do people consider it cheap now that it's on the sale rack? A few weeks ago it was regular price in the same store! The quality of the product didn't change just because it moved to a different location. I will never understand some people's thinking.

He is 10 and this has been working for about 2 years.
My mom used to do this with Hershey's Chocolate Syrup and with Coco Puffs because my brothers were the same way!!

I am definately not embarrassed to be frugal, can't afford to be. Not with 3 small kids in diapers!!
