Those of you who did the use-it-up challenge for July how did you do?

I didn't buy any toiletries or cleaning products this month. I used what we had in the closet and free samples.

I did stock up on my storebrand creamer that I like. I was out and it is rarely in stock. Other than that I used what was in my pantry.

I have not gone to the grocery store for about three weeks now. I have gone for things like milk and some fresh fruit for the kids. But other than that, I have been using up everything in the pantry and freezer. I have used up about five pounds of hamburger recently in the last week and a half. Used up the last of a bag of chicken breasts and fish. The kids have finished off some ice cream and popsicles. I have used up some bathroom things-Bath and Body Works lotions and sprays, hair gel. I do really need to go to the store, but I will stick it out probably another week or more.

I thought I was the only one that did that!! Once i didnt even have kleenex, so I set a roll of paper towels in the bathroom. They were cheap ones too, not so gentle on the bottom.

Well- we did use up a lot of stuff- shampoo, conditioner and body wash (had back ups in the stock pile), I did use up my huge thing of Tide and Downy (had back up for those). As for the food- I really did not use up as much as I would like! I still have a lot of meat in the freezer, used up maybe 3/4 of my stockpile~I guess I did not realize how much we had in the stockpile!

I did buy a few things for my stockpile (like tide and downey (on clearnace at Target with a coupon- the bulk size of course!), got a few things of tacos and suddenly pasta salad on clearance with coupon and clearance as well (gosh I love Target!). But for the most part have only bought fresh items as well! There was so many things that we used up I lost track- we finally used up a bottle of syrup- I felt so happy about that and a large thing of bisquick.

Do you do these Every month?? I think this would Be fun to Try When the Kids go back to School

Also don't you think that even though you Didn't spend any money at the Grocery store this Month - you will have to Spend twice as much next month to re - stock up??
That is another reason I Can't do this -

I Don't think I Have enough stockipiled to try!

I have one or two of everything on backup - More of others though.....Um Like 50 Rolls of toilet paper

We are still working on finishing the cereal and crackers. I did my shopping over the weekend and didn't buy any more yet. The cereal should last another week or more. The crackers are getting low and we are out of goldfish, but there are no complaints. So we can go another week or so on crackers too.

Using up a stockpile doesn't save you anything unless you might have let something go bad and wasted it. You have to change to a cheaper habit or give something up to save money.

I do understand the freeing feeling when the pile of stuff is gone. Bringing bags of anything into the house depresses me. Taking things out, clearing up is kind of a high, though.
