What did you do frugal today?

We went to the library where my ds got a free book, cup and stuffed gorilla from the summer reading program. Tonight we are going to the reptile and amphibian discovery adventures show in the park, sponored by the library.

Actually, I did not spend a single penny today!:happy dance:

I watched the kids play in the pool for over an hour. Tonight if it is still hot, I will see if they want to run thru the sprinklers-I need to water the grass anyways.

I called the human resources lady at my husband's job and got the information for our dental insurance so I wouldn't have to pay out of pocket for his filling today! After that we came home for lunch (didn't stop at McDonalds like we wanted to) and went to the playground to meet some friends for a play date. But I had to pay property taxes today so I can't say I didn't spend any money!

Today was a not-very-good day for me, so I went to Target. Big mistake. I bought DD a Christmas gift (she gets three each year and she fell in love with something last week). I also replaced nipples for the baby's bottles (we have to cut a large opening in them because of feeding issues and the other ones were really worn out). I got formula, groceries and a sweater that was on sale for DD for fall. I spent $141. Ugh. DH and I have been under so much stress we could implode, and I've been so tempted to spend, spend, spend. I have to do this challenge to keep me on track now.

On the frugal side, I took the library books back so we wouldn't get a fine on them, made sure we ate at home today, and played with the kids at home instead of taking them out (and using more gas in the van).

Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day!

Dh and I spent the day in a town about an hour away. He took his GRE (test to be admitted into a Masters program) while I did some shopping. We did a lot of frugal things.

Today, we:

1. took a cooler in the minivan with sodas and chocolate. We didn't stop anywhere for a snack.
2. used the Target gift cards I received in a barter to buy various things we needed - - thanks, Aliadam!!!
3. cut up the fabric softener sheets to use in the next month or so.
4. used a certificate from restaurant.com for dinner. We have a fabulous $7 dinner!
5. found pretty cheap gas in that town - we paid $2.78, so we filled the minivan up. (We took the Gas envelope with us, just in case we found a good deal)
6. bought a 97 cent eyeliner and not the $7 one!
7. bought the 97 cent pack of barrettes and not the $3 one.
8. went to Aldi. Granted, we had a cart full of junk food (okay, not really, but it seemed like it!)
9. bought 2 pair of slacks for dh at the Goodwill. (Their Plus Size section was really thinned out. Someone must have gotten there first and snatched up all of the good deals in my size! )
10. bought some school supplies at Walmart and Target that I needed for my classroom. (I will try not to gripe about buying my OWN pencils, folders, etc.. . . )

I think that's it!
