What if you don't sign for it? Or just mark "return to sender"?

Even if it's returned, they can still process a refund, minus shipping charges back and forth and a restock fee - it's at their discretion. However, they can take up to 30 days from their receipt of the product to process this, so it's not the best option.

And yes, with today's automation, when an order is place and credit approved, it can "drop down" automatically into the queue, and even if it's not picked and shipped yet, it still is in the system and part of the day's work. It's a nightmare to pull an order out, even if it can be done - the order site is often in a different city than the fulfillment site (sometimes you are talking to someone working out of their home).

Unless fraud or nonfulfillment is involved, you may not be able to dispute the charge - you need to talk to your individual card company about how to handle it. And heaven forbid if the company you ordered from is Gunthy-Rinker. They are terrible to deal with. If you look up complaints about them, you will see many. I refuse to use them.

Time-Life is another bad one - they used to be wonderful - I even did a glowing write-up on them on a review site. However, within the past two years, they have become terrible, with many errors affecting my bank account. Do not give these companies access to your bank accounts via debit card purchases - you are better off using credit cards with them - you have more recourse for non-delivery and overcharging.

By the way, the advertisers spend LOTS of money on producing infomercials to tug at your psychological makeup. They know what they are doing and depend on the impulse buyers. I've learned to hold out - if it's a real product, it will eventually be in stores - less expensively, no exhorbitant shipping and handling charges, and return privileges.

That's what I thought too, since that's the only logical way it should work, since no one works on weekends at places like that. The only difference with my story is that it wasn't done online or over the phone, but in person, on paper, so there was really no real time they could have processed it....maybe they could have, but I doubt it on a Friday evening. I ended up telling the guy he could go ahead and send what he wants, but I'm not paying for it. Needless to say, I never got the pots/pans. Good, we didn't have room for them anyway.

Just don't open anything! Not even an envelope attached to the outside. The Post Office will return to sender only if nothing has been opened. I learned this the hard way with a book club book. I carefully opened the invoice and put it back in and taped it back& marked it Return to Sender. After 2 weeks I received it back saying that it had been opened & I would have to pay shipping on it.
