Okay so I was watching one of those stupid infomercials yesterday morning since there was nothing else on. Well, I decided I just HAD to get it. So I ordered this DVD set of these workout DVDs and thought oh yeah:happy dance: !! Then later during the day I really thought about it and decided I wanted to cancel my order and I don't really need it because I won't use it. So instead of just sitting around and waiting to get it, I called them yesterday and they told me I had to call customer service this morning. I called them right when they opened and I was informed that they couldn't cancel it because it has already been shipped. *Now I am NOT an idiot. Let's work this out- I called and set up my order on a Sunday (no shipping on Sundays). I called right when they opened to cancel the order so it wouldn't have already been processed.* I asked to speak with management and they gave me the same thing. After receiving the order I can return it and get a refund but I will NOT be refunded the money for shipping. Uh let's think about that one! You think I want to be paying shipping on something I don't even want? All they have to do is cancel the freaking order. COME ON!!!!!!!!! So I told them I was just going to go through my credit card company and cancel the order. They told me they couldn't say anything about that. So now what?!?! I am NOT too happy about my purchase that I made yesterday and now I can't even cancel it???

Something similar happened to me, with some really expensive pots and pans, that dh and i thought about on the way home from some "schpeal" we went to where we bought them. The next day i called and said I'd like to cancel, they said "oh, you can't cancel it", I said "uhhhh BS I can't cancel it, I will call the bank and cancel the check (partial payment), and you aren't getting any more money from me, so you might as well not ship it". To which they responded with " you had 3 days (we went on a friday, i called monday morning) to cancel in writing (how do you do that and mail it in three days??) and since it's been three days, we can't cancel it" I said " you will get your letter in the mail asap, since I will write it right now, but you aren't getting any money from me, EVER". I wrote it, mailed it, canceled my check, and never heard another word about it. I know this doesn't help, but just stand your ground, and complain about the shipping charge if you have to! But at least they WILL cancel it!....how dare people say " you can't cancel it!" Ummmmm, I think I can!

If you receive it in the mail/ups/whatever, refuse it and they'll return it to the company. Call your cc company and cancel the payment thru them. Good luck!

I would just wait for it to arrive and then return it for a refund...yep, you might have to pay for return shipping. I guess I would look at it as lesson learned! Amazon also often can't change an order shortly after it's placed, so I didn't find that part all that unusual.

I totally agree and I don't understand why you think they should be able to cancel the order. When you placed the order, they may have immediately processed it and put it with the many, many other orders they processed. You certainly couldn't expect them to spend who knows how long to dig through all the packages to find yours and pull it.

This just happened to me to at JC Penny's catalogue. I ordered the wrong size, called up 1 MINUTE later and they told me the order had already processed.

It's not unusual, unfortunately. But It was my mistake so I'll suck it up, pay the shipping and take it back.

I thought it was 3 business days you have to change your mind on a purchase. I could be wrong though..

I agree with Oregano, too. This is the way business works. I worked as a buyer for 12 years and a lot of companies process an order the minute it is received and it is near impossible for them to stop it. Next time, don't call right away to place the order. Use the "wait a day" rule and see if it's something you truly want. I watch tons of infomercials and am tempted to order half of the things I see, but I usually have to watch the infomercial a few times before I will actually place the order and then most times, I'll just log onto their website and fill out all the forms myself. That way I have time to think before I act. If I decide I don't want it, and I haven't pressed the "process order" button yet, I can cancel the whole thing. I do think it's unethical for you to cancel your credit card or return to sender something that you legitimately ordered.
