Yesterday we went to Toys R Us to spend my ds birthday money. They had Crayola crayons on sale 4 for a $1, but you had to buy 4 to get the sale price. Well, I only needed three, but figured I'd save one for that middle of the year restocking of school supplies. One must have fallen out of my cart during the trip and when everything was rung up, I realized I only paid for 3 at $1.19 each. I took my receipt to the customer service desk and asked if I could buy one more and get the sale price. The woman at the register looked at me like I was nuts when she gave me my refund of $2.70. I told her that in principle I just couldn't see spending more for less - no matter how much it was. She just gave me a wierd look.

Good for you! Who cares what they think...it's better to have $2.70 in your pocket instead of theirs!

After all my poor customer service experiences yesterday I really don't care what they think and I too would rather have the money in my pocket. When I go to Kohls today I plan on getting a $2 price adjustment.

Good for you. I'm sure sales clerks think I'm nuts all the time but then again I think some of them are nuts so I think it evens out!

It's completely understandable what you did. I hate hoiw the clerks get kind of rude, I had one the other day ask me which coupon I wanted t use at the check out (BOGO coupon, and a $1 off coupon) and when I said both acted like it wasn't soethin allowed. Drive me crazy. I'm glad you rebought your crayons!

LOL, I had to laugh b/c a similar thing happened to me yesterday at Walgreens. I bought some Shout spray that was on sale (and it had a rebate). I realized after I paid for it and walked out the door, that I had a $0.75 coupon for it, which was the whole reason I bought it to begin with. So, I asked her if I could redeem it after the fact. She had to call the store manager to complete the transaction, and I got my $0.75. They probably thought I was nuts, but I felt much better knowing that I hadn't wasted a coupon.

I did the same thing last week at Wal-Mart. I was holding all my coupons so I wouldn't forget to give them to the cashier, but right when I was checking out my dd started getting fussy. I took her out of the cart and put the coupons in my pocket so she wouldn't eat them. Right as the cashier gave me my receipt I realised my coupons were in my pocket. I had to go to cs to get my money!!!

I know it's a pain having to go to customer service, but they have to do it that way because the customer service people are trained more (or just have more experience) than a cashier. They can't have people handing out money at the registers like that, due to theft and fraud. But, you can give the cashier your coupons at any time. And a good cashier would have noticed that you had them and reminded you.

Years ago, we were on WIC. Well, even though it wasn't ME paying for the stuff, when the formula company sent me some coupons, I used them WITH my WIC. It is totally allowed, but the cashier could not believe the audacity I had in making her work harder!! To me, though, saving the state money saves ME money...eventually! LOL

I actually avoid ToysRUs because I can't stand the rudeness and apathy in their clerks, plus the fact they don't have prices on so many things. I can usually do better at Target. I HATE dealing w/ customer svc. people at ToysRUs, and their employees are very poorly trained in knowledge of their store and how to please customers.
