This year for Christmas because my daughter is in Kindergarden, we decided to do mugs. My friend makes them, so I got a bunch last year for nothing. We are taking the mugs, adding a packet of hot chocolate, a few hershey kisses and a candy cane. Then, we have Christmas bags for each. It was relatively inexpensive and I thought it was a cute idea. Last year when my daughter was in preschool I got together with the other mothers who dropped their children off and we each put $5 toward a commerce gift card, with 14 children the mothers were happy and so was the teacher. Less work for each of us.

I have an idea!!* I think that you can give really nice gift to all 7 for under 25.00 (as long as they all are female.... here is what you can do.

Go to Bath and Body Works...... I assume since they are teachers they use anti-bac soaps and probably antibac hand sanitizer. I know that when I am in the classroom I always lather up. Bath and Body right now ... or did a few days ago there full size anti-bacterial soaps for 3.00 and the smaller antibac hand sanitizer on sale for 2.00 I have tons of 10 off 30 coupons if you would pm me I would send one to you.
You could buy
a set for one soap one antibac for each teacher and tie them togehter with silky ribbion or wrap them in plastic basket wrap like they came in a set and give one to each teacher.
5.00 for a set at 7 teachers= 35.00 with the coupon 25.00 and you have very nice gifts for all.

Just my thought..... if they are men.... sorry I dunno

I've just done cards with a Godiva candy bar attached to it. That way they can eat it or pass it on to someone who will.

this forum about teachers gifts how about the book club there is always a section for the teacher to buy a book for the classroom, or even go to half.com and get books for the classroom. I tend to buy our dr's good gifts which whenever we have needed them they are there.

Last week the school sent home a letter saying there would be no gift exchange this year. They are just wanting can good for the local food pantry. They also said instead of buying gifts for the teacher this year, give supplies for the classroom. I think that is a great idea.

I do love and respect my kids teachers, but I simply cannot afford to give like that. Even 5.00 gift cards add up- if you are giving to teachers, coaches, band directors, scout leaders.

I do think homeade items can be a good gift, and, if packaged nicely, in a cute basket, with alot of ribbon, can really look nice for homemade. The problem with this, is by the time you buy the ingredients, and then the basket and ribbon ( even if you get it at the dollar store) you probably spend the same as you would if you got gift cards.

Just to also let you know that my sis is a teacher and she NEVER EVER eats anything homeade- into the trash it goes. She has sort of a I dunno.. phobia about homemade things- I guess she's seen the condition of some people's kitchens. People let thier cats walk on counters and are less than hygenic sometimes. Of course I'm not implying you are cruddy- but some folks are, and since she has no idea who is who, she tosses all homeade goods in the trash.

If I were you, I'd probably go in to wal-mart and have a bi ol huge package of pictures taken at thier portrait studio. ( they give you a whole pile for pretty cheap) and give those out with christmas cards to everyone you know. In the card, write a personal message about how influential and special they are to your son. I know I would perfer this sort of govt over homeade jams or trinkets. I'm a very practical person though.

You will find, as your child gets older, he will have loads of teachers in his life, and you simply cannot give to them all. In middle school the kids have EIGHT teachers- and even moreif they do sports, orchestra, ect. I simply cannot give to all those teachers. A card will have to suffice. My sis, who I said was a teacher says that she never ever expects any gifts from parents or students, and is never offended if they don't give her one. She does like pictures and cards though.

Unplug the christmas machine girlfriend.

I can't say I disagree. I know teachers who NEVER eat any of the homemade gifts they get. They go straight into the trash....and it's for the same reason. You just don't know who made this and how clean their kitchen is. On the other hand, they always appreciate a small $5.00 g/c to office supplies stores.....as most of them invest their own money to get alot of the necessary supplies for their classrooms. They also appreciate a nice christmas card from the child. I don't know one teacher who expects an expensive gift from any of their students.

Well the homemade jelly thing didn't work out. I ended up getting anti-bacterial hand soaps from Bath & Body Works - they were on sale and I had a $10 gift card that I got in the mail. So their presents ended up costing about $3/4 each. Not too bad. Thanks for all the great ideas.
