Is there a good color safe bleach that is cheap? I have been using Clorox 2, but it's almost seven dollars a box.....I have some Borax at home and have seen some cheaper generic color safe bleaches, but I'm not sure which works the best for the money. I was hoping some of the fine ladies on this site would be able to help me out by giving some advice on the best cheap, but effective choice....Thanks

I will tell you what I do.It is only my 2 cents. My kids are all allergic to the clorox 2 and regular bleach so I had to find an alternative and got the oxyclean. It worked but it got costly this summer. My mother told me that my aunt uses the Mean Green..sp..and it worked awesome for her and her daughter. She said to use 1/2 cup and it takes care of it all.I went ahead and tried it and sure enough...it works great.I use just a bit more on mine scince I have a kind size washer....and my kids are not allergic to it.It is at our Doller store for 5.00 per gallon.

I use Sun Bleach. It is in a box and it is a powder. It is a color safe bleach. I have bought it at the $ Tree and Family Dollar. It is $1 a box. I have used it for years. I have gotten set in stains out of clothes from yard sales with Sun Bleach. They also make a Sun detergent so don't get them confused. You can let clothes soak overnight in a strong mixture. It comes in a blue box. This past week, I found it in a citrus scent. It is in an orange colored box. Good luck.

Thanks for your tips.....I did buy the walmart brand liquid color safe bleach, it was 2.97. I thought I'd give it a try....Then hit the dollar store to see if I can find what you recommended. Thanks=)

My mom turned me on to Biz when I worked as a waitress. It is just as expensive as Clorox 2 and Oxiclean (about $8/box), but it actually works! Soak overnight (in the washer, tub, pail, what have you) if it's a serious stain like babyfood or set-in. Otherwise, just add per directions to your washer with your favorite detergent. I worked at the Olive Garden (lots of red sauce and grease!) and my babies pooped on everything--I never had a stain Biz couldn't get out. Biz won't fade or bleach out anything; I had big problems with this with Oxiclean. Hope this helps!
