You girls got me hooked on Target, but the credit card has to go bye bye. I'm spending WAY to much money there, average about 150 a week. Not good when trying to get out of debt and I can't even tell you what I buy there. I have to go on Tuesday to return stuff and then I'm closing the account. This is so hard!! That was my fall back card, the EMERGENCY, if I need it store. I hate this CASH only bit, it's so much harder then I ever thought it would be. Cash for everything!!! I hate being in debt. Give me 9-10 months and I will be 100% debt free. :D

Couldn't you just do the credit-card-in-the-freezer thing? You wouldn't have to close the account, but you'd have to think long and hard before you used the card.

I love going to Target as much as anyone, but $150 a week is a lot! :D

I try to make a list and stick to it. When I think I've over-bought, I return the items.

While it may be hard to avoid Target totally, maybe restrict your visits to once a month. Make a list. Be willing to return items you really don't need. You can do it!

Debt free- what a great feeling that will be!!

If you have another cc for emergency use, I would definitely cancel the Target one. It's like having chips or chocolate in the house... if you know it's there you can't stop thinking about it. Another option, besides the block of ice, is to cut up the card but keep the account open- just write down the numbers. If a true emergency arises, you can call and request a new card. But I would say bye bye also-- I'm not so good at resisting temptation.
