This is awesome! Way to go!!

I like to shop at different stores for bargains! I wish we had an Aldi's here but we don't we have The Grocery Outlet which is sort of the same thing. I found New Zealand cheese the other day! I also got Special K bars for $1.39 a box and at Safeway they are $2.99. Makes great snack at work and only 90 calories!

I was wondering the exact same thing. Math is enough of a challenge for me when I am alone at the store (full disclosure: I was an english major!!).., never mind with several tag-alongs begging for my attention. LOL!!! Great job, Happymom!

I normally do not shop with kids, but I had no choice if I wanted to get it done!! So, the good part was that while I did not have my oldest children with me, the ones I did have were older (7, 8, & 9) and they were very helpful with my 4 yr old, who was very crabby!!! My 9 yr old is awsome and keeping the little one entertained and happy!!! I am not sure why, but they were all very good and not at all demanding.

that will be a challange to make $217 last for a few months.....if it does then you all must not eat hardly anything at all.....we are a family of 4 and that is just trip for us

I feed just two of us for $40 a week. That isn't really a challenge as I have adjusted our diets as I learned what was busting my budget.

When the kids were toddlers, I spent time reading shelf labels and decided I wasn't going to spend more than 10 cents an ounce for food. That may be a little low at today's prices, but it tremendously improved our diet by cutting out convenience foods. After the initial effort to analyze stuff, it got easier to know what is a price in my range.

We eat less meat now and will go meatless more often now that the government is encouraging farmers to grow ethanol corn and not feedlot grains.
