I will tell you to resist the urge to go shopping; even though I really want to tell you to go so that you can buy me something.

Find a good book to read or rent a good movie. Enjoy your day!

If the need is just to get out of the house, go ahead and go to the mall! Hand your credit card to your oldest kiddo and tell him that if he doesn't give it to you until you get back in the car he can have some candy/watch a movie/have a friend over when you get home! The shame of having to beg your own child for your credit card should be enough to curb impulse spending!

At this point it would take me too much effort to shower and look nice before leaving the house!

Make lists! Yucky days are a great day to make food lists.
You could search through a cook book to find a new recipe for the week!
---That's what I'm doing today!

It is rainy here too. I am cooking dinner. My middle son is starting to act up. I also feel like getting out of the house to shop to make myself feel better. But it would only make me feel worse. Remind yourself how you will feel if you caved in and spend more than you intend to spend. I also can't wait until my children go to school. I have one child who is very challanging and I find myself trying escape his behaviors by spending money. I assume that is not the reason why you want to go out....
Just find something that you and your kids like to do together. Maybe go to the library. See if some friends are around. Look up on the computer to see if there are some free events today.

My trick is to not be bored. How? Simple I do something with DD everyday. When I do go to the mall it is typically to walk laps and not to shop and in that case I have a friend with me also walking laps. I am less likely to shop if I have already worn myself out with walking. I have found wonderful local groups through meetup.com Spent 2 hours today at the park with DD no problem when you have someone to talk to. Best of all its free!
