This maybe should go in the recipe section, but I do not venture there. Anyway, I bought one of those cut and seal things from pampered chef, which basically makes those uncrustables (that you can buy in the supermarket for a ridiculous price). I amke them for my kids all the time because besides being cheaper, we also use whole grain bread, real peanut butter, and low sugar jelly. I also make a bunch at a time for my dad (he brings over the ingrediants that he likes and I put them in freezer bags and he freezes them-just like the ones from the store) Now to my question, they lea ve a lot of leftover crust and I was wondering if there is anything to do with it. I use bread cuumbs that I buy to make meatloaf and I thought about makeing bread crumbs, but I honestly have no idea how to do it. Obviously if I just left the crusts out, they would mold. Is there a way to turn them into bread crumbs (soory if this is a stupid question, I have no idea) Or does anyone have any other suggestions, I hate putting all that bread down the disposal, it makes me cringe.

I just crumble up the crusts and put them in meatloaf like that. But that would be alot of meatloaf!!! How about feeding the birds?

A few ideas for you:

Cut them up in bite size pieces. Melt some butter, place melted butter, bread and spices in ziploc bag and shake until well coated.

Spread on cookie sheet and bake at lowest temp possible in oven... you now have croutons. Store in sealed container.

Let bread crusts dry out or bake like above method, once dry use mortor pedestal/ ziploc with mallet. crumble by hand and you have bread crumbs to use in numerous ways.

Take kids, g-pa, bread crusts to park and feed ducks/ birds. Good free family fun

Actually, if you're talking about plain bread crusts, they won't mold if you leave them out, they'll just dry out. After they dry out (about a day, depending on humidity/temp), you can put them in the freezer in a jar, then when you get a few you can run them through a food processor and have a jar or container of bread crumbs all ready for you for putting in meatloaf or throwing on top of a casserole!

Thank You all. I feel kind of stupid because I was thinking of just leaving them sealed in the bag, I am going to let them dry out and use them for bread crumbs/
