What products are basically the same at all price points? What things do you buy that you have had good luck with when buying cheaper?

-Clothing for DD, I get most of her stuff from yard sales, thrift stores, etc. and I have had great luck with the cheaper "no name" brands.

-I bought an inexpensive (under $100) vaccuum cleaner and absolutely LOVE it. It is a bagless with lifetime filters so the only thing I should have to replace is belts. It picks up pet hair great and is just awesome. I will say that I did do quite a bit of research before deciding on this one so it definitely pays to know what you are buying. It sure as heck beat paying $500 for a dyson.

-Diapers. Ironically, the most expensive diapers (Huggies) ran so small that my dd always had leaks in them. I had great luck with almost all of the store brands...I actually liked them better than Huggies and Luvs. I did buy Pampers when I had a coupon though...those worked for me as well.

-Wipes, they all worked fine for me.

I love buying store brand frozen fruit. I get get alot of variety, and they make wonderful smoothies, and sometimes I'll cook them to make a fruit syrup for ice cream or pancakes. It beats paying the high price of fresh fruit, although I do buy fresh fruit, but this allows me to get more fruit into our diet without busting the budget!!

I get generic just about everything at the store, love shopping at Goodwill, and one of the best $9.00 I've ever spent was for a pair of boots at Payless!

Slight hi-jack - Spoodler what is the name/brand of the vacuum that you just bought? I'm in need of a new one and have been on the fence on it. TY!

You guys really have good luck with store brand clothes? They always fade and wear out so much faster for me. I really like The Children's Place and JCpenney (their brand is ok), both places have great end of season clearnace every year, never fails. With three kids I try to get something that lasts long. I think Aldi food is great though. You really can't tell the difference with almost everything. I think it is ok to get cheap diapers too. Targets are the best we have found. Wipes are fine cheap, I like wal mart better with those for older babies, but target for newborns. Oh baby wash is ok cheap as long as you don't have a baby with sensitive skin.

Sure, here it is on Amazon...

Amazon.com: Hoover U5507-900 Elite Rewind Bagless Upright: Home & Garden

I did a lot of shopping around and looked at all the usual suspects...wind tunnel, dyson, etc., but I was finding that their "real world" reviews didn't warrant the hefty price tags. We have had the Hoover Elite for almost a year and are very happy with it. One thing is that it isn't self propelled so it is a bit harder to maneuver at times, but other than that it's great.
