Why do I spend less to save more? It costs so much just for the basic necessities - and in Canada there are taxes on taxes. 45% of our income is taxed away at source - then there is the nationwide 7% Goods & Services tax (you even have to pay this tax if you buy a new car or house, you do the numbers!) and various rates of provincial taxes paid on anything you buy(7% in Ontario - 14% total). The less you spend/consume, the less retail tax you pay. This includes utilities, gas, food, personal hygeine items, etc. It's crazy. So it really makes sense to spend less. I like to save money in order to do the things my family loves to do: travel. My family learns so much by travelling, experiencing other cultures and meeting other people - they will learn more this way than through the public school system.....
