Scratch Chin Do you ever have a hard time staying motivated to be frugal?

I just had to ask if anyone else was having issues with staying motivated to be frugal.
It seems like lately I am almost rebelling against being frugal. I am a former "spendthrift" who changed my ways and "went frugal" in order to become a full-time SAHM. It worked and I came home full-time a couple of months ago. For the months leading up to staying home full time, we practiced living off of one income, and I thought that money would be really tight. I kept track of EVERYTHING we spent, down to buying a sunday paper. Well, since coming home, somehow it almost seems easier to pay our bills and save than when I was working. (And I made good money, too, even after daycare expenses!) We've even had some unexpected expenses come up.
I am still trying to be frugal, but it seems like since we aren't struggling like I thought we would, all of the sudden, the budget is out the window, and I am out spending like we have lots of extra to spend!
I have been breaking out all of my books on being frugal, thinking that reading them might re-motivate me into being more frugal again, but I just can't seem to be as dedicated as I once was...
I do not want to go back to my old ways! I actually like the challenge of being frugal and getting the most bang for the buck! I am just afraid that with my current additude, I will go back to my old "spendthrift" ways!
Any suggestions to help me re-motivate?

I too, struggle with this almost daily! It's funny to me, that when it comes to some things, I'll spend money like it grows on trees, but with other things, if I can't get it on clearance, or with a coupon, then I won't buy it. For me, all I have to do is remind myself that the majority of wealthy people didn't become wealthy over night, that had to work hard, scrimp and save, and then when they became wealthy, the didn't change their spending habits. I want to be more like that, and only splurge every now and then. However, right now, I'm more into the splurging, and only saving every now and then.

Also, for me right now, I think it's going to get a little easier, even with Christmas coming, because, my father in law, and my brother in law (Brian's brother), both have cancer, and Brian will be getting checked for colon cancer sometime in the near future...how's that for motivation?!

Just keep telling yourself it will be worth it in the end, or perhaps, play a little game with yourself. Test yourself to see how much money you can save between now and a certain date you come up with. Make it a game...make it fun....look for ways to make cuts here and there, that you maybe had never considered before. Good luck!!

You've gone from one extreme to another and back again. Maybe you can find some middle ground.

Like when I feel like spending money - I look for Christmas gifts for the people we exchange with. I've gotten a lot of good deals -as I try to keep my eyes open all year long for good gifts for people. I also don't feel as extravagant and I get the rush of a good deal.
