I'm loving this list!! I do many of these frugal things, but there are several suggestions that I'm going to try.

How do you find out where to buy a cow?

These are great!!! I also do alot of these but will add a few. Here are a few that i do that i did not see listed.

1. I use powder milk. It last longer. And i can pack it in the diaper bag and mix with water when out. kinda like formula.

2. I use freecycle when i can. I got a round cloths line for free.

3. I joined a local MOMS club and we are always having fun activites for the kids.

4. I breastfeed.

5. Make my own babyfood.

6. Use cloth diapers. And wash them myself.

7. I love pampering myself and can not see getting manicures. So i bought some cuticle oil and a buff block at walmart for 3 dollars. It last about 6 months. I do my nails once a week for about 13 cents a week i have pretty nails. My friends always comments that they look so nice.

8. My mother in law cuts all of our hair.

9. We also bought our house from an auction. It cost about 80,000. We have done all the repairs ourself and so far it has appraised for about 250,000. And we get to live in a very upscale area.

10. I love to cook and make everything from scratch. It taste better and is better for you.

I have always washed everything in cold water.
I always buy reduced meat and freeze it.
I always make weekly menus
I rarely go to the mall.
I hang clothes out to dry.
I keep the heat lower in the winter.
I drive a nine year old car.
I wear my clothes until they are not wearable any longer.

We never buy paper napkins or plates. My husbands job provides him with clothes for work and cleans them for free! That has saved me alot on our laundry bill! We drink water all day and milk with meals. My husband takes the train to work everyday. We have one car and I walk everywhere anyway. We eat home cooked meals, rar go out to eat. Only buy when on sale. I am sure I have more...

What is this and where do you get it? I am tired of changing filters and adding water to 3 humidifiers!! In the past we have had whole house humidifiers, but we haven't added one to this house (we hope to only be in it for a few more years).

Thanks for all your ideas! I think I could read these all day long The ideas also rejuvenates me in tightening up the belt a little more

I'm the only "frugal" person in my family---so I get made fun of ALOT for being MY "normal"

I do a lot of what is mentioned---but I don't think anyone talked about sales flyers. Every Wed. I sit down and go through the paper (which was given to me after my in-laws were done with it....meaning, FREE) I get out the sales ads and start making my list. Thankfully Wal-Mart matches so I only have to spend the gas going to ONE store! I try to make my meals from on hand stash & CHEAP sales ad finds! [Ex: one week I bought a 5lb bag potatoes for .99 & Kraft Cheese (24 slices) .99--With this I added milk & made potato soup!!]

wow these are a lot of great ideas. here are a few things we do...

1. we fill nalgene water bottles for drinking throughout the day. no sodas and no need to buy cases of bottled water.
2. cloth diapers for the baby - and I wash them at home.
3. Baby and I are vegan, so no need to purchase meat. we buy grains and TVP in bulk at the local coop which saves a lot of money.
4. husband and I work in the same building so we carpool each day.
5. make meals from scratch - I hate pre-packaged food and homemade tastes better.
6. limit eating out to once or twice a month
7. I try to make a couple of hearty dinners (chili, pasta) that are good for leftovers, that way we have lunches for the week.
8. I wash everything but towels and diapers in cold water

I saw your post....I have one of these too! It's a little round plastic vented piece that you can attach to your clothes dryer vent tube. I think ours was bought at Menards or Home Depot. (I'm sure they carry it at Lowes too). Every time you do laundry, the moist heat is then vented back into the house instead of outside. (You can flip a switch to vent the warm air back outside in the summertime) It keeps things nice and toasty in our basement, and the moist air circulates throughout the house. It's also very inexpensive!
