Have you ever passed along gifts that you didn't need to others as birthday or Christmas presents?

No. For the most part we have always gotten gifts we could use. If not I try to exchange them for something we can use. I do reuse gift sacks and tissue paper though.

Not usually...I'm more likely to offer it to my sister or a good friend and if neither of them want it, I donate it.

Yes I have. My friends and family always give me nice things and so I don't feel like I am "passing down" anything that wouldn't be appreciated by someone else. Just note though: I don't just give anything to anybody. I typically try and match the personality to the gift or I outright ask them if they want it!

I have a huge box full of things that I will never use. I don't see the sense in keeping it all if I know it will warm someone else's heart. At the same time, I don't make it an elaborate thing either. I usually give these things away as cheer me up gifts or thinking of you gifts, rather than birthdays or anniversaries. I don't want to claim I spent a lot of time and effort on the gift either ~ That to me would be fraud!!!

Do you remember the Oprah show where that lady regifted everything? To the point where she even regifted something to Oprah herself but WRAPPED it in a Tiffany box? That's what I mean about trying to CLAIM putting in the hard work and tiem of choosing out a gift. She is making it seem like she went to TIFFANY's to find something nice for Oprah when the gift was actually a department store piece of jewlrey she put in a used Tiffany box. TACKY!!!!

Yep ~ I have. If I have something that someone else would LOVE and I am not gonna use, then I have been known to pass things on.

yep i have but only if i truly thought they would use it. the things i think no one would use i take to goodwill. like last year i gave my dad and his wife a gift card to the olive garden that i had gotten since my kids and dh don't like their food. so i just added that in with the gift i got them so it would get used up.

Yep, I have. When my dd was born, after two boys, I got a TON of girl clothes. She never wore some of it and it was darn cute so I passed it on as a baby present later.

I would love to regift, but my fear is that someone will say - "we already have it, do you have a gift recepit??" I usually instead end up selling things at a garage sale, or donating them.

I actually just gave my nephew a $5 gift for his birthday! I felt horrible the whole time! One of my sisters new the price and said go for it - it was $20 originally, but I got it on sale for $5. I had been wanting to get him that exact toy and when it went on sale I snatched it up! But, up until party time I was stressing - what if he already has it and he needs to return it! Oh I was stressing! I was SO releaved when he ripped the box open! For anyone else I might not have felt so bad, but she bought my 2 older boys $20 gift cards each for their last birthday a few months ago! (Of course I will be giving her older 2 girls $25 gift card for Christmas.)

Does anyone else worry about this? I was just picturing her at Target trying to return it and they say - oh, it's been clearanced out - we can give you $5!

I just did the other day. I have 2 boys so I have tons of clothes, so anything new just goes into the closet with the tags on and as the baby got close to the size, I would wash it for him to wear. I needed a gift for a baby shower and I knew it was a boy so I just pulled 2 brand new outfits (with the tags on out of the closet) and I didn't feel guilty at all. I would never try to regift something without tags though. THAT'S tacky!
