I always thought that the traditional housewarming gift was a loaf of bread. Perhaps you could wrap it up in some cute kitchen towels and put it in a bread warming basket. Either bake the bread yourself - and include the recipe - or buy the bread at a nice local-to-them bakery and perhaps include a small gift card to that store.

We've usually given a bottle of wine (an inexpensive type) or a really nice smelling candle.

How about a basket with a few cleaning supplies?

Address labels with their new address on it?

Some inexpensive dish towels/potholders in neutral colors?

Target has some $1 spot stuff right now here that is little note pads & bath/body stuff (gel, body scrub, foot lotions, etc.) in pumpkin spice, vanilla sugar, & apple cinnamon.

I always love when I get little jar candles as gifts

I love the bread idea.

I just took my daughter a gift for their first home. They make more than we do, but i wanted to do something. Know their tastes were more upscale, than mine, I stuck to the practical. I bought her a decent bamboo cutting board that I found at Home Goods. Luckily it was just right. My SIL thought we had prearranged it as she is always looking at cutting boards.

Hi Ladies,
Thank you very much for the ideas. I love all of them. I was acutally out shopping today and found an adorable loaf pan that was just sooo cute. it was a pottery type of piece that had a nice winter print on it (ice skates, oven mitts, apples...)and it said something along the inside of it that said "I am a winter baker..." Only $14 and can be used in micro, oven and dishwasher!! I think I may go back and get a few more for holiday grab gifts!
Thanks again!
