There is a TJ's about an hour from my home. I was wondering if it is worth the 2 hr(round trip) drive to get items from there? Also wondering what are some of the their best deals? Do you save a lot when shopping there and do they take coupons? We are a family of 6 and have access to a few box stores and local grocery stores that are all about a half hour away.

Thanks

I like TJs for the variety factor. I try to go because I can get some items for a decent price that are different from what I find in the store.
No you won't find coupons because they don't carry much out side of there own brand except there huge selection of wines.
There freezer section is what I go for packages of more pre made stuff that makes cooking a little easier for a large family you would need to buy more then one package of many things. I get stuff like gnockies(sp?) orange chicken, fried rice, stir fry veggies oh and there deserts and snacks are great for if you were hosting a party.
If it were me I wouldn't drive an hour unless it was holiday shopping and you wanted something different or you had other things to do in the same area.

I also would not drive an hour to Trader Joes. I go for the frozen foods that make cooking very convenient. But I sure would not drive an hour to get them.

My Trader Joe's is about an hour and a half away. I have never made a special trip just to go there. I agree - it's nice for variety and to see what they offer, but probably not worth going too far out of your way. If you enjoy wine, their Charles Shaw brand is pretty good - and only $2.99/bottle! That is something I stock up on when I'm there.

I wouldn't make the drive either. I have one about 45 minutes away, but I only go if I happen to be in the area. Their nuts are a good deal and I like some of their food, but not enough to make it worth the drive.

If I'm in the area I stop. I would not make a special trip. They carry a lot of frozen convenience food. Their canned tomatoes are great. They are plum tomatoes and they pack a lot in the can.

Their prices are better than Whole Foods, and I do shop their each week. BUT I would not drive an hour to get there! I'd just go without those items.
