I called AT&T earlier to try to reduce my bill. Well, the lady kept trying to get me to switch to satellite television. I was trying to be polite and finally told her that I can't make that kind of decision alone. She had the nerve to ask me why!!! I was actually a bit offended. She really didn't seem to understand that dh and I make money decisions together.

They also don't understand, "I cannot afford that." And give you the whole, but if you sign up today, it's only blah blah blah. I know it's their job to sell this kind of stuff to us, but I wish they could learn that no means no!

To them it's just a job and commission. To you, it's your life, and sometimes I turn the tables on them and try to get them to realize that. I actually get very frustrated with the pushiness of these companies. I called Cox Cable last week for a problem, and was talking to their technical dept. Near the end he does his expected spiel about how he noticed I didn't bundle my phone. I told him why we chose not to, and he tried to convince me to switch. Then, when I agree to find out more, he tells me he doesn't have the ability to give me more or switch me, but that a sales agent can help me. So he puts me on hold. After a minute and a half (a long time when you have a toddler), I decide it's been long enough and hang up.

I also hate when you order something by phone and they keep trying to sell you other things. You say no and they either argue with you from their script or go on and try to sell you the next thing on their list. One of the many reasons I will never order from Gunthy Rinker.

I hear ya! That is so irritating. A while back I cancelled our cable and we just had regular channels for a while (we now have satellite again). The guy on the phone could not understand why on earth I would want to live without cable. He argued with me about it forever. Then they kept calling me and asking me about it.

When they start to get too pushy with me I just say "No thank you, I'm hanging up now" and then I hang up on them. I'm not going to waste time arguing with them.
