Anyone save money by not having cell phones, or if you do have cell phones did you get rid of your land line phone?

We got rid of the land line at least a year ago and it has saved us money.

I had a cell phone with Cingular and after all the taxes and fees I was getting frustrated with the amount--and I had the lowest plan. Thankfully my sister in law told me about her prepaid cell phone she uses with Virgin Mobile. I had been asking my husband for us to just cancel the cell phone all together---but he wanted it for emergencies, so I cancelled my regular plan cell and got a prepaid phone. This has saved us A LOT of money! I was paying close to $40 a month for one phone after all the fees. Now I pay NO fees and it only costs me $5 a month! I don't just chit chat on the phone, and I am very minute conscious. I always have plenty of minutes to roll over the next month. It's been great!!

I DO still have a landline, but its a basic flat line, it only costs me $20 a month. My cell is only 300 minutes with no big extras, so it only costs me $42 a month. Sprint is usually pretty good, they don't charge me for roaming, or going over, which I only did once in 3 years anyhow. LOL I"m just not a phone person.

We too got rid of the land line about 2 yrs ago. We have a family plan so it doesn't cost us any minutes to call each other(which we use it for the most) and we have rollover minutes that usually expire before they are used.
We thought it better to give up the land line rather than the cell. I like the security of having my phone always with me, especially with little ones. There are very few pay phones around here anymore.

We got Vonage to get rid of the landline...not because it was cheaper necessarily, but because Dh can't stand phone companies, how much they charge, their poor service etc LOL Have to get other services 'bundled' with it etc The added bonus, is that, it is cheaper.

Unfortunately, we do have to have cell phones. Dh's is covered by his work, so that's nice and then the kids and I are added onto his plan. It's not expensive for us.

We only have a landline because up until now dial up internet has meant we had to have a landline. We live in the country so we were stuck. Recently though a company has brought broadband to our town and we no longer need the stupid landline. I am all for going wireless. We are in Canada, and Bell Canada has the monopoly on phone service. It makes me crazy the way they rip people off. Can't wait to call them up and say adios!!!

We have a landline only. I had a cell phone but it was with verizon and it was outrageous! My hubby has a company cell phone so we dont pay for his. I got just basick phone too for only $23 mth so if we need long distance we just use his cell phone.
