Default It's not a "good deal" if you already have one and don't need another!

DH just emails me about a new high definition DVD player that is half price at Walmart right now. He wants to buy it even though we have THREE DVD players already!!!??? He keeps saying what a good deal it is. I told him absolutely not and I think it made him really mad, but he's pretending like it's no big thing. He's just going to have to get over it!

Just needed to vent!

Well, my husband thinks he needs a big screen tv, so I feel your pain. It's hard to try and tell them they can't get it when they are the ones earning the money. I do like the title of your post. I think I am going to try to apply that way of thinking every time I think I "need" something.

It's a little easier for me to say no because I am working and bringing home money as well! He did get a big screen TV. (He works for an electronics company so he's tempted by these things a lot) But this just put me over the "What in the world are you thinking" edge with the electronics stuff?!

Oh Good Lord mine pouts like a little kid. Truthfully I give in sometimes just cause I am feeling the need to smack him if he doesn't stop. Mine like video game systems and their pricy $50 games. I really have to focus when I go shopping cause I will start to put something in my cart that isn't a total necessity but its just such a good deal.

3 DVD players IS a little excessive! My DH can be the same way when it comes to hunting & fishing stuff. He can't have enough & I think HE HAS PLENTY! Therefore we came up with a system. We budget every month $10 each for "blow" money. We don't have any say in what the other one spends it on. We both save ours for something we've been wanting. We put any BDay or Christmas money in with it too. After a few years of saving, I actually bought the laptop I'm using right now he has fixed his boat motor, bought a bow for hunting, and more junk like that It's a really good system for us! No more money fights!!
